I have a large pine dresser and 8 pine chairs which are quite old but still good for many a year, except they are covered in little water stains/ring marks etc......I have no idea about restoring them and any tips would be very welcome, they have not been varnished just waxed in the past............

Try a dry iron no steam...placed over a cotton cloth for a few seconds keep doing it until stains are gone

Hi Shrimp,

The only way to refurbish the furniture is to use wire wool and white spirit to remove the old wax and take it back to it's natural state.Have at least 2 effes.Wash the items and leave to dry, have another effes, the timber will then feel rough due to the grain 'raising',lightly sand with fine sand paper trying to follow the grain of the timber so as to avoid scratching the surface and leaving sanding marks, have another effes.

Apply a water based stain if required depending on the base colour of the furniture, antique pine is the normal colour for modern reproduction,if need be flat the timber off with wire wool again then apply wax which can be obtained clear or coloured depending on the desired colour.Polish and buff with a soft cloth and repeat the waxing process at least 3 times to obtain depth in the surface, the more the better, not forgetting to repeat the effes.

PS

Paracetomol normally helps with the hangover

Hope this is helpful
