I have tonight looked at every website under the Sun (well at least the ones I can think of) and am finding the prices are ridiculous. Anyone got any ideas. Family of four (2 adults 2 children) London Airports, 12th Aug, 14 nights. Thanks.

Have you tried Netflights. They are coming up with £1,197 for 2 adults and 2 children from Stanstead on 12th August. We flew with them last year and found they were the best price. Hope this helps

Try Transit Travel in Orpington Kent They are very good on prices and send e-tickets but you have to book by telephone. 01689 829911.

Well, the new "National Flag Carrier", North Cyprus Airlines, say they are going to be very competitive...shame they are not selling tickets yet, looks as though they are going to miss the Easter tourists and at this rate the summer too!

Dawn Message 1 - The best seats were booked months ago* and unhappily the prices could rise because of fuel surcharges. * From less than 1,062.00 for the family

Often the prices into the south when you add in transfers are not much better.

Especially as you are looking at peak season. Right now we could fly your family for £1535.60 direct to Ercan

Everyone is waiting for the new carrier but there is still no indication of what might be happening there.

Happy to try to help

Tom

Sorry to hear that clayton. I can only speak from 5 years experience, but must admit since CTA started 'playing up' a couple of years ago we have been flying with Pegasus.

Hi Carol Msg 11 - I am sure you have noticed that they are a Spanish Travel Agent so might be a little harder to communicate with unless you are in Spain and that they add fees after the final price. Not what we would do.

John Msg 12 - You are right on both counts. If the flight was as ticketing agent only the law is different - very complex. BTW Your misspellings are nearly as bad as mine!

if you don't mind a bit of messing around, how does £1079 sound (presuming children are under 12years) if you look at http://www.travelrepublic.co.uk they are offering Heathrow to Larnaca with a 3 and a half hour changeover at Vienna going out and a 2 and a half hour changeover at Frankfurt on the way back with Austrian Airways. This is the cheapest that I have found although the flight times are also not the best.

Twaddle Msg 14 - The trouble is that on those stopovers you are very probably going to spend a small mint on coffee, tea, snacks etc - the savings will probably become small

With the extra effort of the changes in two unfamiliar airports it will be no fun

Thanks Tom, I guess I will find out when I do the trip in July, with 4 adults to pay for I decided that saving several hundred pounds really is worth the extra hassle!

Be very interested who you are flying with twaddle. Are you flying to the north or south?

Keith Msg 20 - At those prices Twaddle was probably flying to Larnaca so allow extra for transfers.

Flights even cheaper were available to the North if you booked very early.

KandF, I am flying with Austrian Airways. I actually paid £198 each a couple of weeks ago for flights from Heathrow to Larnaca via Vienna going out on 22/7/11 and back on 12/8/11. The downside is that the total travelling time is 9.5 hours going out and 7 hours going back.

A friend yesterday booked for him and his wife Larnaca-Gatwick return, out 8 August (Thomas Cook), return 18 August (Easyjet). Cost for each euros 242 plus approx euros 24 luggage. Total cost for two - euros 532. He and I always look for flights and book via http://www.skyscanner.net which automatically puts you through to the airline websites once you have decided which flights you want to book.

mess 12

hi john, what it was when cta was going bust.i phoned transit management and asked them what was going on.they did not know themselves at that point.they later told me not to worry just turn up at the airport and atlas jet i think the name was will take us .i said can you guarantee this they said no,but we would get our money back if there was no room on the plane.that was a saturday flight from manchester.unfortunately for us my son and wife plus baby were going out the following day from london, and have never been there before.panick stations,i said if you cant gaurantee that we will get the plane we would like to cancel.we agreed that we would not get all our money back, but i just wanted to make sure i was there to meet my son and family.i ended up going through larnaca.we have been hanging on to see if transit management refund our money.we have never had any problems in the past with them. we will be sending them a final e mail regarding monies owed.

Hi Dolphin, it is possible to get the prices much lower if you are prepared or can move your dates around within the school holiday period which I presume is what restricts your choice somewhat.

Just checked out Monarch as I was checking out some prices for Mikelapta who was also looking .. albeit at Easter rather than summer hols.

If you went Aug 15th for three weeks price comes out at £763,plus luggage.

If you went a week later ... 23rd.. for two weeks price is £667 plus luggage

Food for thought... always worth going on their site and selecting calendar dates available rather than exact dates which then brings up all flights going out and returning for the month, which then allows you to pick and choose and check the prices which automatically adjust in the right side column.

Hope this helps... regards Joseph

Thanks Twaddle, thought there must have been a reason for it. I booked ages ago for about the same price but flying direct to Larnaca.
