I know that people can bring a south hire car into the north, but does it work the other way around? Can you drive a north hire car to the south?

Thanks

In theory yes, but check with your particular hire company. You need to make sure that they have 3rd party insurance for the south or, if they expect you to pay for this, that they supply you with the necessary documents to do this at the border.

Yes you can.

The rental company which is based at the garage opposite the Colony Hotel in Girne allows their cars to go South and provides copies of all documents required at the border. Sorry but can't remember the name of the company.
