Have you tried simply going to System Preferences under the Apple menu through the Languages and Text Preferences and changing the language by dragging English (or Turkish) to the top? This is on a mac running OS 10.6.6. Think languages in older OS may be under International Preferences.

my problem is I can't understand German so can't work out anything from the drop down menus! Someone told me I had to change it by using the installation disc, which i don't have.

Thanks, will try to work through it.

If you're not familiar with a mac - or German! - the apple menu is the one under the apple symbol. System Preferences are fourth on the list - try google translate for the German - then go to Languages and Text, formerly International, fifth along on the top row, with a flag symbol. If you click on that the first column of options is Language which you drag into the order you prefer. Hope it works.

Got some of the drop down menus coming up in English now but the Apple menu is still in German.

The flag on the top right menu bar is showing English. Anymore help much appreciated.

Thanks.

Try the support pages on http://www.apple.com. They're usually pretty good. I'm not sure how up to date the operating system you have is, you might need or want to upgrade. I've bought upgrades from ebay before with no problems.

You can also download manuals and get some upgrades free from the support pages.

RE msg 1, rejela: Tell me which Operating System you use 9.x.x, 10.5.x or 10.6.x and I'll tell you here or via email how to do it - it's easy. Click the drop down menu from the Apple (top left in your Menu): "About this Mac" and check your OS.

▶ And consider to become a member of the (completely free) TRNC Mac Users Group, which I founded some months ago. If you have a problem or a question about hardware/software you send me an email (hansdoeleman@allcrusades.com ) or text or phone call (05338645433) and I'll reply asap. If I don't know it or don't have what you require I send an email to the TRNC MUG members and you will get your answer from others. Also: if you need Mac spare parts I have the adress(es).

▶ Again: the TRNC MUG is free and only meant to help with specific problems, which you easily meet in this country.

Thanks Hans and Sheila for your kind help. I will be having another go at this tonight. So good to get useful comments instead of a bucket load of c--p which often appears , when someone just wants useful help and advice.

Best wishes
