Are there retail outlets in N Cyprus selling M & S type quality products at either the same or even slightly more than the UK prices.

OR is it cheaper to bring over from the UK

Would really appreciate any thoughts/comments your membership may have.

Barry - Crockery etc is quite heavy so unless you are shipping, I would buy here. You can get reasonable quality in most of the supermarkets. We ended up buying crockery sets of white china from Astro - very reasonable. Towels, Pillows, Duvets, Sheets etc etc all becoame our luggage allowance on our numerous trips - much cheaper and better in the UK. We even bought a 20' lcd/dvd TV in the UK (200 quid from Tesco !) and checked it in boxed up at the airport - got there in one piece with no problem ! Good luck.

We bought all our bed linen, quilts etc over with us plus other bits but we did buy our towels which were very good quality from a shop just past the Pia Bella Hotel on your left - I think its the last shop on the left hand side. Bought our beach towels from there too. It's good to give some of the locals your business now and then.

If you are coming with a container bring anything you can get in it.

Otherwise there is good quality stuff here that may be more expensive than UK but better pay a bit more than struggle through with suit cases etc.

Crockery is cheap here and places like 1001 in Girne have a good selection and the quality is average to good.

Northumbrian - we also did pretty much the same as Perry - used most of our baggage allowance over several trips on linen, towels, etc. We also brought over a 20" LCD TV, but we got our fromn Asda! Seem to remember that the time we brought the TV we flew into Larnaca There were no problems and it arrived in 1 piece. Would agree that crockery is a reasonable buy in TRNC.

Hope this helps.

You could try the BIG 1001 on the road to Ercan airport . much better than the small one in Girne. they have huge amounts of crockery etc and the prices are better.

Hope that helps

There's also a big store called 'Onder' on the right on the way into Lefkosa. Huge selection (for N Cyprus) and reasonable prices.

If I may add an important point folks, You will find many quality cotton textiles in the UK at some of the Brand outlets to be made in Turkey....!

Check for yourselves if you dont believe me, T shirts, Shirts, Towells table cloths. AND Turkey are not in the EU YET.

Best to bring linens with you, crockery and glassware is easy and cheap enough to get in TRNC. Huge selections.

If you stop in Turkey and have extra room, get your towels from there. World famous Turkish towels, have not seen great towels in Cyprus.

It's a question of taste really - I found these items in NC really naff - am taking my own - we have bought our furniture from a store called Elektrokur - 'real' Italian furniture not cheap - but good quality.

Good advice, take as much as you can from the UK if shipping it over here.

Nice quality at The Curtain Shop and prices were cheaper than Dunelm in UK.

On right leaving Girne for Lapta.
