Lipitor tablets

Are there any members who takes Lipitor tablets (Atorvastatin calcium)?



My hubby has used up his supply bought from the UK and when we went into the pharmacy to buy some they charged him 69.81 YTL (£30.53) for one box of 30 tablets.



One of the other tablets he takes are Atenolol which are 2 YTL for a box of 28.



We were wondering if anyone who takes Lipitor tablets has been perscribed an alternative that is not so expensive.

Silly question but did you try any other pharmacies ??? to find out the price.

Hi

Yes my husband uses Lipitor & he was on 40mg which were over 100ytl per box. Luckily his dose has now been halved which is good news all round. I checked the price on the Greek side which was similar the chemist told me that we could get a prescription from the hospital using our EU health card which would allow us a 40% discount but we did not bother to explore this avenue.

A friend bought us a supply from Turkey where they were 25% cheaper so we are using those at the moment. It may work out cheaper for you to buy the 40mg & half them if you are on a 20mg dose.

hi puppylover ,put in a request for a 3 mnth repeat px , ask someone to pick it up for you , get it filled and i'm sure you will have no shortage of couriers , but you will still need your annual lips bt . but you could arrange that when you visit the uk

Compared to his other medication - Atenolol being one of them - the lipitor is quite expensive.

I have an un opened box that I have spare. If this helps you out of a problem.

I ran out of Zoton and they wanted 35ytl for 14 tabs!!

Just very surprised at the price of these tablets compared to the others he has to take.

hI PIPPYLOVER , They are so expensive I TAKE BOTH THESE TABLETS BUT 10MG. i HAVE A BOX IF IT WILL HELP YOU . you can nip into The BISTRO if it will help I will put them in my bag i n case. take care Lilli

People in the UK. complain about the prescription price. What they fail to appreciate is the real cost of some drugs. I too am on Statins. High dose & other drugs. My drugs bill is 200YTL a month. Fortunately I do not pay Council tax in the UK. You win some you lose some.

Meds here are priced by those in charge and the eczanes work off a given list.



From my own experience there is some room fo manoevour from the list when the cost is high and more than one item is issued.



My own meds cost an arm and two legs compared to a standard UK prescription but that is life here.

Thank you all for your replies/comments and offers.

As I said I am not complaining about the cost of this particular tablet..was just surprised at the cost compared with the other 3 types of tablets my hubby has to take which range around the 2/3 YTL mark.



At the end of the day 69.81 YTL is worth every YTL to have good health.
