Hi spud one, please note it is not Esenteppe golf course, but more importantly your statement that there are holes where one cannot see the result off their drive is incorrect, this only exists if you do not make the faiway, or have a real wayward shot.

I am a member playing off a h/cap 14, I have now played more than 80 rounds and can assure you there is not a hole on the course that denies visual contact with an even half decent drive.

No one can deny it is an extremely difficult course and many a keen and able golfer has had to admit defeat , submit lots of cards and hope the h/cap committee are lenient, perhaps that is what you need to do!!.

No insult intended, I felt the need to defend my course amidst lots of negative and ill informed comments on the forum.

On the money front playing with a member and including a buggie at present coste approx 75 ytl, I make that about £28, this is considerably less than all the knockers make it.

hi delboy your comments are very interesting i agree the course is very good but i dont know where you get your prices from how many members will play with a stranger. when i was there in early july the price then with a buggy was £45 each the manager of the course has since sent me an email to inform me there will be an increase from the 1st oct to approx £60 with a buggy. you must think i am a donkey regards to crazy golf at blackpool you would possibly be off + 6 on a normal course if you can play to 14 around there. i played off the yellow tees in july you cant tell me there are no blind holes with the length of the tees and the steep drops to the fairways its inpossible to see your ball perhaps you play from the red tees!!!!!!!!!

What does a donkey in blackpool get for lunch??

Half and hour.

You have to admit that the course for a new course is expensive but golfers being what they are will always pay - they are addicts. It is beautiful. I do wish however that they would let children in. My daughter is 12 and plays off 15

Why don't you 2 arrange a math and have a beer after and enjoy. I am sure Spud that Delboy will get you a good rate!

Couple of things, firstly IsOglu, £60 for a round of golf on a course off that standard is not unusual, I can only assume you know very little about golf, secondly for Spud1, I stand by what I said, my words are factual not heresay, every hole played from the yellow tees not the red ladies as you suggested, allows the golfer to see the flight and landing off the ball providing it is not a wayward shot.

I also stand by what I said in relation to the cost of someone playing with a member sharing the cost of a buggie at this moment in time will cost approximately 78 ytl.

Molly 1 has hit the nail on the head, I as a member will gladly invite and sign you in for a game, I look forward to playing a round with someone on a h/cap of 10.

This is not intended as a challenge more to prove a point that members will help were possible and sign guests in to promote our beautiful course, you can then see for yourself that half decent balls struck from the yellow tees are visual right through to landing.

Perhaps you were blinded by the beauty off the mountain and sea views.

Hi Norman..looking forward to the game, prices at this moment in time are as follows..Greenfee £24, Clubs £15, Shoes if required £5, buggy shared £5.

See you next wed I suggest you arr at 7am that will give you time to boot up hire and familarise yourself with score card etc, do not purchase any balls as I have a shed load, some are probably spud1's from his last outing. Several off my friends will be there so be prepared for some friendly banter.

Hi spud1, just played with a guest on Sat it cost him £24 green fees, £5 half share for buggy. Prices will change on 1st Oct, will keep you posted on prices when signed in by member. By the way the course still hasn't changed, drove the ball well, spotted all flight and ball landing bar one!!. hole 4 up the hill wide fairway flat landing area no problem. Playing with normando on Wed I bet you cannot wait for his report I know I'm looking forward to it, and the game as well.

hi spud1...well i played 2 rounds of golf with delboy and from a nuetral standpoint i must say he was spot on..if you hit a decent drive you will see the flight and landing on almost all holes.. i have played many courses in africa spain middle east and uk, and it was one of the most picturesque i have played on..for a new course it is in great nick..however no matter what, you will enjoy the company of delboy and his mates,as i did...!!

hi normando the course was in good nick when i played it but if the tees are right back on some holes you cannot see where your ball has gone also i have had the fees from them its between £ 52 & £64 a round without a member + £20 for a buggy. unfortunately delboy plays to early for us so i will give them a miss this time i am over there on the 8th oct for 2 weeks to play on there 4 times would cost aprox £560 for the pair of us a lot of dosh

£60 for a round of golf, which is about right for a course of this standard! Banana Republic, Banana Golf Course, Yeah I would really pay £60 to go 18 holes on a course that 99% of the world population has never heard of or will never play on! the mentality is so,so,so crazy golf. Cheaper if you play with a member of which 75% are social members and have never hit a ball in their lives. It's like a bar in Alsancak that upset its customers who all left, to encourage them back and build his trade again he made the beer 4YTL the average was 2.5YTL at the time!

The Esentepe has quality but lacks quantity and this can only be reflected in the high green fees, if you want more of your locals (all season bread and butter) to use your fantastic facilities then make it more accessable for our wallets.

Exclusive in Cyprus ain't gonna work, not enough bums on seats my friend.

Normando, thank you for those kind words i shall pass them on to my mates.

Spud1, I get the impression you like the last word and you can never be wrong , well in this case you are wrong, forget about the tee beds you played off I have explained the FACTS several times , Normando has confirmed these and now you decline to play with me, I am beginning to doubt you are a golfer never mind a 10 h/cap.

Tee times are not an issue I would gladly change that to accomodate guests, the reason for early starts Summer temp's.

As for prices I will not argue, wouldn't we all like to play cheap golf but get real, Top Course Top dollar.

To all on the forum, on any subject, facts are a little boring, rumours hearsay, and second hand tittle tattle more exciting but none the less fictional.

Champagne,

I believe that is a very exclusive and sophiscated drink, reading between the lines you are in my opinion misnamed, perhaps you should be called, :Mild or Bitter:, my preference would be bitter. Oh before you say it, I love bitter and have enjoyed many a pint off mild.

75% social members !! where do you get your facts from ?.

Are you sure it wasn't !A! particular customer in Alsancak that upset the landlord for s... stirring, that sounds about right.

If you cannot afford a Rolls Royce then buy a mini, no offence to Mini's . Had one then made the step upwards.

To Spud1 Alias Dick Turpin,

congratulations on your robbery !! OOps I mean win, my friends and I are all smarting but are looking forward to recovering their losses on Sat.

Can you take this opportunity to inform all on the forum the course is fair and tough and that all bar one tee shot is visible through to landing, in other words eat them!!.

See you Sat.

Good on yer Delboy, stick up for your course. I should point out as an 8 handicapper that if you take the "Tiger" line then more than half the drives cannot be seen from the tee. And I have to agree that 125YTL is a small price to pay for golfing heaven. By the way last week I played Celtic manor for slightly less then that and I could afford a libation in the clubhouse afterwards. But hey! these things are relative. Keep up the propoganda and good luck.

Reveal yourself are you a Hippo or a MOUSE ?!!.

The copy must be a fake the original never left my sight, although at one stage it was in your possesion but just long enough so you could read it and weep, and just dream!!!. that one day you too could play proper golf.

I just happened to be at the 19th hole the other Wednesday enjoying a beer after surviving the trials and tribulations of your difficult course. I couldn't help but hear the sour grapes coming from one person in particular (looking very much like a HIPPO), directed at one other person who presumably is Delboy. Yes Delboy was smug, but wouldn't you be if you could score 38 points with 2 blobs!! But then to hear Hippo had come in with a front nine of 21 points with 2 blobs - well me thinks Hippo is too fat to be able to keep his concentration going for 18 holes. It was noticeable that no cards were offered for scrutiny for handicap reduction - but both of these bandits need to have some proper adjustment to their cards. I would say that anyone getting more than 30 points is doing OK for themselves - a difficult and very scenic Golf Curse and one that I will play again.

Oscar, your hearing isn't as good as you think, it was 38 and no blobs, as for hippos score I for one am not particulary interested in other players scores, I concentrate on my own game, perhaps that is the secret.

I also concentrate on the conversation within my own company to do otherwise is downright rude!.

I also take umbrage to being labelled a bandit especially from someone that does not even know me, why don't you and all the other under achievers mind your own business, by the way the handicap committee have the cards they require after competitions and scrutinise I believe on a monthly basis.

All,

I do actually play golf (not enough unfortunateley)and three years ago i managed to get down to a sixteen handicap which included my best ever score of a gross 80,actually missed a three foot putt for a 79,this was on a par 70 course. But then i started to get to serious with the game and analysing my swing my putting my bottom hand etc.and from a 16 handicap shot up to a 28 and stopped enjoying the game.I know struggle to go round in less then 100.But next year i am going to start again and hopefully it will come back. Its all in the mind guys or so i am told.

Oscar's another bandit Delboy (in the nicest posible way of course) he must have had his RADAR working that day.

I believe copies of his back nine's have been obtained.

To Delboy - at my age memories are sometimes blurred, so apologies if I have upset you. I am not a rude person and did not intend to listen in your post match analysis, but it did seem to me to be of good humour tinged with envy. I admire your golf game; reading all the comments, you seem to be one who has managed to get to grips with the course and play to a consistent level. Good of you to achieve this and long may you continue to do so.

To Hippo - I am not ex-RAF. I was a Naval type conscripted into the finest Military outfit, so think you have got your RADAR completely wrong and got me mixed up with another of your playing partners. No offence taken at the slur of RAF.

I look forward to playing the course again on my next visit sometime in the Spring of 2008 - irrespective of the cost. Best wishes to all for a handicap reducing 2008 from a cold wet UK.

The plot thickens, HIPPO V OSCAR. That takes the pressure off me, at least you know who I am.

Oscar I'm not really upset just defending myself, RAF NAVY ARMY who gives a ----,

dodger, when you shot an 80, on the day you played to a 10 or better well done it's a shame your game went pear shaped, stick with it you have done it once you can do it again, a little praise and encouragement can make the difference. It's a great pity that some playing colleagues want to belittle ones success and use gamesmanship to try and rattle, and boy does it rattle me, I call it bad sportsmanship, there i go again and i did promise to chill !!.

Another reason why my game went down the swannie was due to my cheating ex best mate of over 20 years.A couple of years ago we were playing as a four ball in tunisia whilst on holiday there. For months my mother mates and myself had suspeted thi certain person of fiddling but couldnt prove it then one day we caught him red handed.Still makes my blood boil now even typing the story.

Anyway,we all teed of and hit pretty good drives, walked up to play our second shots. On theleft was a row of trees and behind the trees was a fence which ran along the hole right up to the green.I took my shoy and managed to reach the front of th green. The next player went and did a similar shot.My father in law took his and it went straight over the fence(out of bounds)

Then the cheat went and hit exactly the same shot as the father in law. They both went walking up to find point of entry so they could drop, when the cheat produced a ball out of his pocket, not knowing that we were watching and shouted out "its o.k. ive found mine so i will play three from here.

PART 2 LATER.

dodger I can't wait!!

as a matter off interest and not wishing to spoil your story they both should have taken a penalty and drop a ball on the spot off their second shot, thus playing 3 from that spot. Sorry if that has spoilt your story or joke!!.

Yes, thats right as you also get penalised for losing your ball. The one that never cheated did actually play four from the point that we estimated that the ball entered, but thats not really important to the story.

So anyway,my father in law and myself saw my best mate of over twenty years take a ball out of his pocket throw it on the floor and then claim that it had landed there from his second shot.

after he took his third shot not one person in the party spoke to him and that was nearly three years ago and i still havent spoken a word to him since. His wife and my wife are still friends and think that we are stuoid for falling out but they dont really understand as it is a man thing (sexist) i have since heard though that he was caught doing exactly the same thing ina stableford and was thrown out on the spot and banned,so i suppose he eventually got what he deserved.Golf eh.

dodger,

That is a very moving story, it is a shame that such a long friendship should end over a game.

Look at ALL other sports and a certain amount of cheating, fouling, swearing and violence is incorporated into the game with yellow / red cards sin bins etc, I think though that is what makes the game of golf pretty unique, but lets not kid ourselves human nature takes control and some players of all standards are tempted into stupid errors of judgement. (cheat)

Woe betide though, if you play golf, once branded you will be watched and caught. Punishment might lead to your dismissal from the course club and golf in general.

More importantly loss of friendships and respect from your peers.

I Love all sports and believe that honesty and integrity should be uppermost in all sports persons prioritys.

Hope you and your mate can get it back on, he I think will have to face up to it and crawl big style.

Thanks for the reply delboy,

i agree with what you say in your last post, cant see how we will ever be mates again though both to stubborn for that. What eats at me is the fact that he could not only cheat his best mate but cheat himself as well.We did everything together right from school, girls rugby, football, boozing, the odd scrape (nothing serious) now when the christmas card arrives his name isnt even on it just his wifes name as if he was dead.Wierd.

Even if he crawled big style, once a cheat always a cheat, it's in his nature.

If he wants to win that way, let him play on his own and cheat himself.

I'm with you on this dodger.
