Does anyone know where I can purchase a sculptured large bird that you put on the roof to keep smaller birds away?

Hope this makes sense as I am not 100% sure if I have worded/described this properly!

Many thanks.

You can borrow my husband, he's excellent at chasing dogs, cats, birds and children out of our garden!!

You would have to feed and water him!

Jovial John....thank you for the link. Very interesting and now think that I will be wasting my time with the decoy bird!

The problem is sparrows in the upstairs terrace guttering. Not too bothered about cleaning the mess up but hate having to dispose of the babies when they fall out of the nests. Was hoping to deter them in the hope that they would nest somewhere more suitable.

Trying the disc solution at the moment and will see what happens.

Scoobydoo....thank you for the kind offer....have you told your hubby that you are renting him out?!!!!

DD......my 3 only chase the black and white crows...not bothered with sparrows or swallows.

Many thanks for the replies....much appreciated.

A radio controlled model helicopter can be a great deterrent - especially for unwanted, roof-perching pigeons!

However, it's the sparrows that seem to be your problem - have you considered taking up falconry?

That made me chuckle!

Hubby would probably enjoy playing with the helicopter but I don' want to give him an excuse for not doing all the odd jobs I have lined up for him!!

Falconry....mmmm, not too sure about that! Hubby would probably be the one that ends up being the victim!!

I think you can put some kind of netting over the roof;I am sure I saw an ad in Cyprus Today for help on this sort of problem perhaps someone else knows or you could check it out?

Girne Geeza... alas, none to show. Not that I would do such a thing of course. I think far too much of the fairer sex to contemplate such a thing.

How are things? Hope you are all settled in, C and P fly out tomorrow morning... just me left back here in old Blighty now! Watch out for the knock on the door... you never know who it might be!

I have a motion controlled bird scarer for sale brand new boxed

You set it up to cover the area arc you want and connect to a water hose,it then sends out a jet of water.

Works with birds/cats etc

Sounds brilliant, but it wouldn't be work where I need to position it (wouldn't be able to attach it to a hose pipe).

Thank you for the offer though....much appreciated.
