I arrived back this morning after spending 2 weeks in our apartment on phase 2

The site is coming on really well the planting and the new lawns look great.

I watched them prepare and the seed the lawns on the beach zone on phase 1

yesterday.

It would appear to take approx 3 weeks from seed to fullly grown lawn.

Everyone I spoke with on site was really positive about the way the site was coming on.We had no problems with water or electric whilst we were out there.

We took the opportunity to visit the Karpaz and its a must see for everyone that visits the TRNC.We are hoping to visit TBV again in the new year when hopefully we can see the site in its full spendour with all the landscaping complete.

Hi Kennyb - nice to hear you had a great time - we went to Karpaz in August and loved the part we made it too - didnt quite get to the tip but still found a lovely deserted beach. SM sent us some photos yesterday from TBV and the grass and plants are starting to look brilliant. Wont be long before the whole site is green and florishing

Theyve done the beach already - but no good if you want to bury someone - sand isnt deep enough. Still OK for sitting and watching the sunset though and if you are brave enough to have a swim in the big waves!

p.s meant to say Coachie we and several owners and their families had a big beach BBQ in August - it was great fun. Just took our little BBQ down there and others did too and we got all the kids to round up all the old wood left behind and made a camp fire. We watched the sunset go down. Well worth doing.

Sorry to sound like a downer, but doesn't growing grass take a ton of water to keep going?

I thought there was a water shortage.

Hi all,

I think the beach BBQ is great, does anyone know if bins will be supplied ?.. as I have noticed that rubbish is getting left behind..

It would be a shame to let this area become a mess..

Hi Stuart.

Just got back from TBV and I also noticed the rubbish swept up on the beach and like yourself noticed that no bins were on the beach maybe its an issue we need to raise with the committee.

We are in block 34b on phase 2 and are made up with the progress of the site and the quality of the build of the appartment.

Where abouts are you on phase 2.

We took all our rubbish back to our apartment with us. Maybe one to add to the list for the committee. I know they have asked for a bench to be put down there also.

I do hope they keep the beach clean, I would think that all the residents at TBV that use the beach would clean up after themselves just like Boaredhousewife did

Hi Stuart.

Everyone I have met over the past 2 years who have purchased on TBV seem to be decent responsible people and I am sure that they are the type of people that will look to keep all areas of the site litter free.

The new fence on the beach zone seems to be trapping the litter before it starts to blow around the site and last week I watched SM staff litter picking all over the site it was at times very very windy.

Keep posting Stuart and if we are ever out there at the same time, you are more than welcome to share a cold efes on our patio.

Any rubbish that is on the beach could also be washed up - especially plastic bottles and yoghurt pots seem to be the worst!! ...oh and odd shoes/flip flops!

When I was on the beach earlier this year I did see some Efes bottles

some broken & left there. They looked as if left recently, and I cannot

imagine who would be so blindly ignorant as to do that, knowing the

potential damage that can be caused.

I guess you have to educate the locals also to take their litter home with them.

Education is was is needed over there, hopefully the new generation will have a bit more pride and keep places clean.

The beach I presume will be open to public, as no one can own a beach.

Hi Stuart

Hope you are both keeping well. We were out the same time as you in September and had a few chats around the pool. Hope you have found a decent fish restaurant. We are going back in a weeks time. Are you still going back in November? Lets hope the dust has settled around the pool and the digger has taken up residence somewhere else.

Regards

Hi Ken B or is that Kenko ?

Great to here some positives about TBV Just been out there for six weeks we saw some great improvements Planting coming on great. The beach I think maybe is a temporary measure but is still great! umbrellas, barbecue area, sand, safe cordoned off area , Litter is a problem though . As for Efess bottles a major problem. Litter bins there isnt any . Maybe we should take this up with our representatives. Fencing a great idea, gate to the beach I think should have a notice on requesting to keep closed to keep out farm animals . anyhow keep the positive coming! TBV is still the Jewell in the crown of northern Cyprus

and always will be.

Ronaldo.

Great to hear your positive comments.

I noticed the quality of the landscaping last week and was particularly impressed with one garden that had planted an orange and a lemon tree it was just a pity that they had a boat the size of the QE2 tucked down the side of the appartment. If you know the owner of the boat let him know that I have a friend that works for customs that can get him an outboard motor cheap never been used all taxes paid.

No not yet - maybe the new committee might be able to get hold of them. I still think its a shame the old building isnt being used - such great views and a fabulous place to watch the sunset. I'm not sure the new restaurant site will have the same ambiance built in the middle of all the apartments - I guess we will just have to wait and see and then decide!

[tongue in cheek] I have heard that they might turn the old restaurant into a casino, whore house or even the majors new villa....!!!!!!!! LOL

It is a shame that it is not been put into some use, it is in a fabulous position and would love to sit there with a drink watching the sun go down over the horizon with a few meze's to nibble on.

We are very pleased with the progress on TBV and by spring next year the landscaping will come into it own and the complex will look totally different. We just need a decent restaurant / bar so we can be self sufficient without having to go off site.

The landscaping of the complex is coming on great now, and the fence is now fully erected around the site to keep the goats out. Also path lights, and pool lights are on at nights. So things are moving in the right direction at the moment.

Just hope that I never catch Ting Tong using my outside electricity.

For those owners who are unable to access TBV forum as yet - What do you think about the building insurance issue? Most people were under the impression it was to be covered by RESCO? Or is it just another money making machine or lack of financial structure? Your opinions would be welcomed. Thanks, Jo.

Hi Truffles,

I was always led to belive that the building is covered for two years against defects. & everything else was covered for your first year..

There is a lot of confusion at the moment, but hopfully someone will show us the light..

Yes I agree with the building warranty for 2 years, but they are now asking for building insurance to cover for damage that may occur. When a brief letter was sent out in July, it also included insurance for the desalination plant that we now no longer have any say over. We were lead to believe, contract and actually told by Arie, that our monthly maintenance fee included the building insurance? A big grey area which I am sure the committee will endeavor to resolve on our behalf.

Still no news from Beverly with regards to joining the TBV forum? Its not like her as she is usually very efficient.

Hi Kenny b,

Good to hear from you. We are next out 8 weeks yesterday [18th Dec] for Christmas and New Year. Just booked Kibris Airlines for April and June of next year £200 per person - good price for them.

I think the only earthquake that will happen will come from a certain area of the village, there's definitely been some rumblings...LOL With SM asking for 14 months of payment, the site must be covered by insurance otherwise why would SM be back dating the payments? Yes Redsnapper, I know exactly what you are think....!
