I was wondering, Im planning to start driving lessons in North Cyprus this summer (Hopefully, touchwood :P) My Turkish isn't that good as in.. i cant speak well nor spell/write/read (i can read a bit but not A LOT) i was wondering if i start driving lessons this summer is there a way the teacher could teach me it in English and help me to understand it in Turkish? I know the what the signs are telling me.. but i heard i need to study it in Turkish.

No you don't need to understand it in Turkish. I passed a year ago here in Cyprus and I speak very little Turkish. I used Ozbec near the Wednesday market. I didn't drive in the UK at all, but decided that I really needed to drive here in Cyprus. YOu have to have a minimum of 10 lessons, the owner of the Ozbec speaks English so there is no real language barrier. The test is a bit of a farce I'm afraid or should I say it's probably fixed that no one fails, guaranteed pass! My test lasted about 5 minutes, drove up the road did a 3 point turn and back again - that was it!!! It's a bit scarey to think that I can use my licence in the UK for up to a year! I can now see why there are so many bad drivers here in the TRNC - it's extremely easy to pass a test here but the tuition, ummm....
