Hi everyone. I'm fairly new to this site. I'm looking to hire a villa in Kyrenia or thereabouts for our holiday this year. Can anyone tell me where the best area would be. There are just too many places to choose from on the internet and I'm swamped with information. I'm looking for somewhere fairly quiet but not too far from the old harbour. We hire a car and obviously taxis are an option for some evenings when we will be indulging in a tipple or two but we do not want to be too far away from the harbour.

Thanks

Re : Msg 1,

Absolutely the best area is near the Cratos Hotel.

Thanks Clarissa, does this area have a name so I can check it out? The advertiseded villas I have been looking at just mention the area they are in.

Catalkoy, Ozankoy or Dogankoy, in themselves nice quiet villages, with limited life but close enough to Kyrenia Harbour, plenty on above website http://www.amyvillas.co.uk/?cyprus44forum

Hardly near the Harbour though!, ''but we do not want to be too far away from the harbour''. Not to say that Karaoglanoglu, Edremit and Karmi aren't nice in theır own way, simply trying to answer the OP,s questions.

Thank you everyone. You have all been more than helpful. We drove all over Northern Cyprus last year and I remember a few local place names. Some internet sites telll you palces are a ten minute walk away from the town centre and then in the next sentence tell you the distance is 2 miles. There is something wrong there. Not that 2 miles is a great distance it just means you can't always believe what you read. It's great to communicate with people who actually know the place! I will look at all your suggestions. Your help is much appreciated.

Marisa, I will check out your suggestions and see if we are ok wit the distance.

P4aul. I have looked at that slide show, where is that villa? It looks fab.

Perry, I like Bellapais very much, I have visited the plave several times. It's gorgeous. I will consider that too.

Fulham fan. Thanks for the link. The villa looks beautiful.

Thanks again everyone.

Paul, I would like to know that too. Judyr, probably around 20th Sep or thereabouts. I thought I'd best pull my socks up and start looking now as I know lots of villas are booked up around then.

Thanks

Hi Angela

The villa is located in an elevated position as you will see from the photos, between Çatalköy and Bellapais; you have a clear view of the abbey from the terrace. It would be a 10 minute drive into the Girne, the new hotel is immediately below the villa, and that is a simple drive down to the main road.

The village of Ozankoy is also very close, but you would need a car to get around. The views are amazing we have three terraces; from the very large top terrace, you have a completely uninterrupted view of Kyrenia, the middle terrace is convenient for eating, as it leads from the kitchen, and the lower terrace where the pool is gives you the privacy you require, the photos in the link show the plants small, but they have grown quite a bit since then.

If you are interested just let me know, and make me an offer I cant resist, and you will have a lovely holiday.

There are some dates still available, but not much, just let me know when you are thinking of coming out.

Hi Paul, We are looking around 20ish September maybe the week before. There are only two of us though so I don't know if the villa will be too big.

Thank you Marisa, the villa looks really beautiful and the price is very competitive, again though, I'm not sure if it's too big as there are only two of us. I will bear it in mind though, it looks fab.

Hi Stevie-d, I cannot access the link for some reason. I've looked at a map and I think that Karsiyaka may be a bit far out for us though.

Thank you everyone for all your suggestions and emails. I have lots of information to look over. Everywhere looks so nice. It would just be nice to have some peace and solitude. Can't believe we have never thought of hiring a villa before. It's something you don't usually think about when there is only two of you. Once again - Thank you.

Hi Angela,

You could have it from the 24th, I don’t think it would be to big for you, just enjoy the space, and relax.

Horizon,

Make me an offer, when are you looking to go?
