Hi

We bought some raw wood furniture and want to paint it rather than stain and varnish.

Can anyone advise where you can buy furniture paint from please not just looking for white though would like something a little colourful.

Thanks

I would not gloss paint outside furniture... the sun will soon have it flaking off and flying around landing in your pool. Use a water based colour stain for a more subtle finish.

I agree with Gavin, use a stain or Teak oil,or Linseed oil... gloss paint will blister in no time at all!!...

I got teak oil from Marshalls on the road to Catalkoy it was cheaper than I could buy in the south and a bigger container as well. Not sure if it is okay for Rattan furniture though.

It works really well though on our teak outside table and chairs brought them all up like new although my hubby has sanded each and every piece down to bear wood to get such a great finish.

Tango1, I would loan him out but he tells me that he has sanded all his fingertips off now, he has to stop working every other day to get feeling back in them plus he has another table and chairs to sand down yet before summer comes, poor thing he is hard done by! ha Have to say though he has made a really good job of tables and all the chairs, I wouldn't have had the patience!

You should use a primer as well.

Lionel I wouldn't put oil on real rattan. I spruce mine up by "snipping" off any untidy fibres and lightly spraying with clear varnish.
