Some people may tell you 2 or 5 years.

Having used chlorine tablets in the UK,i found 12 months was there limit, but that was 7 or 8 years ago.

Best to keep in a dark container, and put a black sack over it too.

Chlorine, in direct sunlight has a half life of only 30 mins, so if you keep the sun away it will last 2-3 years no problem. To keep the light off as much as possible, store it in smaller packs so you don't open the whole tub each time and only expose small quantities to light.

If you take liquid chlorine on a sunny day, and pour it into the poor from shoulder height, you loose 10% before it even reaches the water .................. amazing, but true.

Most important thing, and almost impossible to get in NC, keep your cyanuric acid '(CNOH)3' at right level. This is a chlorine stabiliser and make it last a lot longer in the pool. If your (CNOH)3 acid level is too low, this will make the Cl appear to be less effective. Using just 'stabilised chlorine' will not be as effective.

Thats the beauty of zerochlor.

No need to store in special conditions and no shelf life, easy to use and no noxious smells and fine dust to breath in.

Quite right about the smell (fumes) zerochlor, can be very dangerous, especially worse on a hot day.

I use the approved safety procedure of taking a deep breath and opening the top, doesn't stop eyes watering sometime though!

. ive never heard of the approved safety procedure of taking a deep breath before opening the container of chlorine,i thought they say wear a mask, but i suppose a deep breath might suffice, nothing worse than that fine dust you can get when taking a scoop of chlorine from the tub on a windy day, luckily when doseing with zerochlor we do not get those problems,no smells no fumes and no fine dust.

I know the future of swimming pools is not chlorine, the sooner goverments realise the better,im sure USA will soon show us the way in the future.

By the way Yrret,im amanda not zerochlor
