Bob, yellow pointer cross, 2 and a half years old, friendly, but timid, missing since Monday 17th May, from Savyon Village at Catalkoy, just up from The Riding Stables, I am desperate to find him, please see fotos on post, "Bob, missing around Girne", 1,000tl reward for anyone who has any info leading to his return, no questions asked, please, please, keep your eyes peeled....

Sorry to hear about your missing dog.

But if you want a replacement, there is a very friendly bitch that has been done and tagged by Kar and returned to Bademli Sokak area in Catalkoy. Our cat will not allow it in our area but it needs a loving home.

I am heartbroken at losing my lovely dog, this is the 2nd time, some freak has foned me to say that they think they have found him, then without giving anymore information immediately say, ""oh no, not your dog" Are you that sad and lonely? This dog has a great home and an owner that cares for him, he couldn't have wanted for more. So before judging people from where ever you get your standards, think twice.

Any dog which has been a stray / street dog has a tendancy to roam, most owners who out of the kindness of their hearts take on these dogs also take on board these issues. Lucky someone has the heart to do it!



Bob was a well cared for, loved dog, his owner is no way at fault here!

So sorry to read that, but did you leave your details in Turkish and English pinned on a tree or with a local shopkeeper (picture of Bob in his/her window) in case someone walking by knows something. I would think flooding the Island with Bob's pictures and your contact details in both languages is your best bet........

My heart goes out to you and your doggie . . . . We have collected a total of 6 strays and have had them re-homed in Germany all found super homes and are happy . . We kept one dog "Champ" who is now six and has made the 12 hour trip to Germany for the sixth and final time having sold out and departed no longer able to see all the dogs in need of homes. . . . Don't give up on Bob he many turn up on your doorstep any time as dog do have a way of finding there way home even after several months. Wishing you and Bob a happy reunion sooooooon!

have you thought about taking a plain T shirt, together with photo to somewhere like Magictouch and having the photo put onto the shirt and then wearing it so you become a moving poster? Just a thought, I know you are desperate, it is worth a try

Just heard from a tourist of a dog answering Bob's description seen outside Karakum Lemar about 3 days ago. Apparently he was looking 'confused'.

He may have moved on but it's worth a try.

Forgive me; you are the only one that knows Bob and to whom he will gladly come if called - and we can all see how badly he is missed by you - so the one thing above all others, is to go out seven days a week stapling his picture with Turkish/English explanation and your contact details, on every tree, stuck on every shop window that will allow, anywhere and everywhere you can think of. Following up every lead the second you possibly can and spreading the word never endingly..........

I can print some here for you maybe 30-50 but I can only print in black and white I am afraid. And / or I can email you back a 'file' you could take to somewhere like magic touch and they could print off posters in color, though of course they would charge for this.

The tourists are dog breeders. They show at crufts.

We happened to be talking about the dogs here and they mentioned to me they had seen a 'lost' dog outside Karakum Lemar. It sounded to me a lot like Bob and I gave them the description from Message 1.

They, much more knowledgeable about dogs than I, said it fitted the bill. I immediately came home and posted my message. I know what it's like to loose a loved animal. Didn't think I would need to go into lengthy explanations.

I remember seeing the photo of Bob posted on ahother thread. I saw a dog with no collar on hanging aroung outside the Lemar supermarket at Karaoglanoglu at 10pm on Friday night, who struck me as being a very good looking dog for a stray. It might be a complete red herring as the dog did seem a settled stray and didn't appear anxious. It might be worth taking a look, though. I say again Lemar at KARAOGLANOGLU, not Karakum.

I think we are at the point now when we have to hope some kind soul has taken Bob in but has yet to see this plea or maybe Bob has found himself some other dogs to hang around with and has become disorientated, so he could be running with a pack of other dogs, keep your eyes peeled.

Roomy, I have thought all along that someone has him and thinks he is a stray. When we got him, he had been dumped at a local bar, and up until that point had been looked after, as he was house trained, obedient and happy, although very thin. I was new to TRNC then and, in my naivety, I did tell the bar owners that if anyone was looking for this dog, we had him and would give him back if the owner came forward, but no-one ever did. this is such a sad thread. I cannot begin to think how I would feel if one of my three hooligans went missing, but I think the worst thing is the not knowing. If you know what happened, even if it is not nice, it gives closure and you can deal with it eventually, but this is just a nightmare. please everyone keep looking

Since the posters have gone up, I have had a couple of phone calls from peeps, who have said that some Brit holiday makers have been feeding and caring for a dog which they believe is a a stray. When they have gone home, have left messages with others Brits, who live here, to make sure that the dog in question, is not thrown back out on the street. I understand, that these kindly people, may not have access or know about C44, so this may be another avenue to explore..



I thoroughly appreciate all suggestions of sightings of him, but I believe that Bob, whilst street-wise, values his home comforts too much to hang around supermarkets/schools and has either found himself a lovely home to live in, where he is loved, fed and well treated, or alternatively, as some-one suggested very early on in this post, has been taken by a local for hunting, and in that respect is being kept in a cage, and will surface at hunting season...



Anyone know when hunting season starts?

Last night i caught a yellow / orange looking dog in my headlights at Alagadi beach .It could have been him/her but i am not sure . I do not want to raise your hopes but then again it could be him !

I have followed up three leads (if you pardon the pun) this morning of sightings of what might have been Bob. Sadly, none were...but heartbroken, not only at losing Bob, but to see these beautiful dogs abandoned

I don't doubt that you went to the KAR centre when he first disappeared, but dogs are being taken up there all the time and he could very well have been tagged within the last couple of months and sent out from where ever he was picked up. It might be worth your while to go up again with a your latest photo and check with the Centre Manager, who I'm sure would recognise him if he had been through the system. Just a thought.

BTW, someone very kindly dumped 2 three week old ginger kittens in a box outside the office this morning. They were not old enough to leave their Mother and KAR are desperate from someone to bottle feed them for two weeks until they are old enough to be taken to Lambousa to try and home them. Any offers??

I dont want to raise peoples hopes here but it may be worth a look at karsiyaka beach, in between the army and the beach bars there is a little dirt track taking you to beach, the beach is strewn with litter and this morning at 6.30 there were 2 dogs chomping away at someones litter, both very similiar one lighter sandy in colour and a bitch the other was laying down but looked darker/sandy colour i just checked out bobs picture again and yes it could have been a much slimmer bob but i am sorry i didnt see if it was male or female......
