Has any one ever tried to get a stand by flight from Larnaca when all the flights are showing full. If so how does it work please and what are the chances!

I did a standby via Cyprus Airways (I think - office on front wall near to toilets!!)

My flight desk was open but had to wait for the CA office to open in the morning. The CA staff were in no rush, so a few nail biting moments. Had no problem getting a single to Manchester with the usual CA customer service!!! So, from my experience it's possible, but avoid early flights.
