Did anyone see this in yesterday's "Gunes" TC newspaper? Apparently TC customs at Ercan forced Turkish diplomats to go through security - and caught both of them with a load of jewellery! Looks like Turkey doesn't like the Turkish Cypriots enforcing the law.

>>The "Turkish embassy" has conveyed a letter to the "foreign ministry of TRNC" so that similar behaviours and implementations towards "embassy's staff" not to be repeated in the future. The written statement pointed also out that "diplomats" have the right not to be subjected to control at airports "customs checks" as they are considered as "diplomatic agents", according to the Vienna Convention.

Meanwhile, the paper writes that the "Security Forces Command" (GKK) announced in a written statement yesterday that the so-called police have launched investigations towards the incident with the two diplomats carrying in their luggages a large amount of jewellery.<<

Is Turkey dumping its crooked diplomats in TRNC?

A few years back the TRNC agriculture minister (the one accused of shooting the GC protestor) was arrested at a Turkish airport after arriving from TRNC with two suitcases of mobile phones. No action taken.

Rotten to the core...

@ msg 4, Rufusa: (...) Rotten to the core... (...)

▶ Very unfair comment. What about ALL the MP's in the UK* who cheated their voters with fake declarations? Some were even re-elected! The UK*: "Rotten to the core..."? Don't think so.

* Examples from Holland also available. And from Greece, France. And from Germany etc.

I was just daydreaming about the idyllic fact that New Zealand is rated as the least corrupt country in the world - but was soon jolted back to the reality that I live in TRNC...... Nuff said!!!

The real story is why the trnc feel they can break the 36th Article of The 1961 "Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
