A few days ago david found a dead cat near to the office door when he was opening, poor thing was like a piece of cardboard, anyway he disposed of it and that was that. From tuesday he has been hearing a very loud noise,a noise like a gremlin out of the movie the gremlins, but could not see anything, only hear this very loud wild sounding noise. Tonight when he was locking up the office and going towards his car he could hear the gremlins noise again and he followed the noise until he saw 2 little eyes peering @ him from some undergrowth and the noise got louder, yes you guessed it,a little very wild kitten. He grabbed hold of it as like its mother would by the scruff of the neck, all of its hair on its body stood up like it was filled with rage or fear,we can only think that the dead cat on monday was its mother. I wonder if any one can estimate the kittens age,its not mee owwin,it really is a gremlins sound. Im just waiting for some videos to be sent to me .

eyes open, not blue, ears up eating solids - 10-12 weeks old would be best estimate, though would help to see a size referance. Unfortunately just one among thousands here every year that end up motherless. If you like such kitten videos try this one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVWA9g99VRU

Cows milk is not good for young kittens or cats. If they are eating solids ok then water is fine. If you need some kitten forumla email me, but it looks like it is beyond the stage of needing 3 hourly forumla feeds with syringe.

How awful for you Amanda :-( Tell David kittens do sound like gremlins who fear the beholder! and I'm sure your lovely David must have frightened the kitten! but surely as lilli says you are looking after it and it is ok? and your helping David to find his feminine side

I gave him chicken and rice today, tonight he had pasta and dont laugh haggis. My guess and Im not good but 2 to 3 years. He gets his dried food in between.Oh also Tuna he loves that with rice.Am I harming him x I really do not want him as I cant let my dogs out because of him but I wont see him starve or be killed on the road and no one has claimed him, He is a beautiful cat |

Zero the sound is more related to mood than age. Determining age is tricky from just the videos to be honest. The size would indicate less than the previous range I suggested, but size can vary especially if the mother was the cat found outside Davids office, it would mean it has not had good nutrition in the first weeks of life and this affects size accordingly. If you want to care for it and its eating solids you should be fine. If it is not eating solids then you do need to get special kitten forumla designed for kittens and not just use cows milk. As I say email me if you need some of this. Getting to a vet to check it out generaly is never a bad idea.

Lilli cats will drink cows milk but gernerally its not a good idea to give it to them is my understanding. They are not designed (evolved) to handle it. Its likely to lead to dioreaha. Water is fine for an adult cat or kitten that is past the weaning stage.

His last cat was brought up on tuna and corned beef,he said he managed to make it swallow some tuna, tinned tuna, then it eat the tuna on its own,or scoffed the tuna. His girlfriend has just adopted it,another 1 homed, another few 1000 to go

Crikey - I can't stand cats, yet looking at this little one, you just want to cuddle it. The fear is almost palpable, s/he looked so alone in that box - just wanted to put a soft toy cat, and a miniature hot/water bottle (warm only of course) so the warmth and feel would seem somewhat like mum or siblings - hope it didn't see mum's demise (if indeed the dead cat was its mum). I agree, maybe a check with a Vet to get the OK, though it looks quite healthy. I also would have given water - having read somewhere that although perceived wisdom is that cats like milk, their tums aren't really meant to have it.

Thank you Erolz, even though I do not want it I will not see it starve and actually I have grown used to it, only worried what my 3 tennors will do to it. Its clever though He will stare at them through glass and now I have to take them on leads around the garden but he has his escape route sorted. It cracks me up seeing Valentine just sitting staring most of the day, the other two cant be bothered they want the cool. Come time to go out well differnt story xxxxxxx. I guess he has been used to dogs just not mine xxxxx

About 2 yrs ago,i had a cat who was sadly killed leaving three, 4 week old kittens,i didnt think they would survive, but i fed them with watered down milk, and dried cat food soaked in boiling water. The kittens did have problems drinking the milk at first (it kept going up their noses) but all 3 survived. i didnt keep the kittens in the end, they all went to good homes when they were old enough but i still see one of them, he's one big healthy cat now, so good luck with your kittens

MsGarnet (mess 17) Don't you think Amanda and David are wonderful? erolz (mess 15) I think diarrhea could be plentiful in any cat or kitten that is fed rubbish for a long period of time, It's so sad that David had to force feed him/her tuna! but I'm sure Amanda and David's kind careing nature will help this little kitten to live! Keep us informed Amanda!

Vonny we had one and I didnt ever take many cats. This one touched my heart so much Oscar. My friend Whistler brought him to me. We cried together at the state of him. He was used as a football. Im crying now. sorry. Well she brought him in a carry case. We went out and bought a litter tray. Didnt know his age but so young. Well from that day thats where he did his buisness.God he was so tiny, I worried he would get through the bars of the balcony. He had a beautiful bed and a little house donated to him. I loved that boy so much I cant tell you. He kept me amused rather than the other way around. He loved his home, but i was feeding him all wrong I bought kit e kat pouchesand he has spaghetti, salamii, aprma ham. etc. Thank god my lovely friend Keithcalley put me right and brought me in food for him, otherwise that cat would be Italian by now. Well he went on that diet much to his dissapointment, lost none of his play fullness though. Keith did tell me only water to drink and introduc

Trish. Im sure the cat did not mind being force fed.Only in the same way as you make a cat eat a tablet. Sometimes we all get force fed whether we like it or not, reading cyp44 sometimes i feel that way!

sorry introduce other food gradually. Yes I do need a blog.Well he became so loved because of his antics by customers, Then the question came Can I have him. God I cried. 3 days before I said yes as I realiased I was a selfish cow who could keep him alive, feed, loved certainly on my balcony when someone could do so much more. So he went . I still see him and god does he rule the roost there with all the other cats they have. Im more happy for him now and happy I took the feeding advice otherwise he could have been an italian pig. Only joking. It just shows what ever you take you need to know. I have tried my best OK I have given him a name Bubbles, thinking I cook for 3 make it 4, doesnt always work. So best now Goggle if we can get what they say. Maybe Erolz can tell me I did some research for cats and dogs and they say olive oil in food. Should I but tuna in olive oil or add it to pasta as I do for the dogs x

When we first got her she would suck the end of her tail like she would suckle her mother..This must have given her comfort... Good luck with her..she looks adorable. Spider,X |

Just for info http://www.aspca.org/pet-care/cat-care/nutrition-tips-adult-cat.aspx "9.Milk Does a Body…Bad? Turns out that you can’t believe everything you see on television! Milk should not be fed to cats as a treat or a substitute for water. Cats do not possess significant amounts of lactase, the enzyme that breaks down lactose in milk. Feeding milk and milk-based products to cats can actually cause them to vomit or have diarrhea." Really milk is not a good idea for cats. They do like it, as well as the proverbial and literal cream, but it is not good for them. If you really want to feed them milk then use a specialist product like this http://www.whiskas.co.uk/our-products-adults-whiskas-cat-milk My partner Karin has hand reared litterly hundreds of kittens in the years we have been here and homed the majority of them too, from days old upwards.

Stepoenoel - good advice for weaning kittens. It sounds like this one is using the litter tray fine already but yeah good advice for younger ones. A few wipes with a damp cloth after feeding usaly gets things flowing.

Hi .... kittens here are always much smaller for their age than in UK etc. If he no longer has blue eyes ............ then he is definitely over 8 weeks old, Get Pertev to check him out and if you don't want him I'm sure that he will help find a home for him. My youngest Merlin is now 14 months old and he is small in relation to some English cats of his age. Don't forget get him checked out and de-fleaed etc.

Other than that, all is fine im told. thanks tatum1 |

My little kitty was around 5 weeks when I found him abandoned by his mum. Although he could only totter around the kitchen he soon found my other cat's food dish and promptly cleared it - just ordinary tinned cat food. He is now fit and healthy and 10 months old. They both love their tuna treats but please do not give them tuna in oil, tuna in water is much better for them (and they love the fishy water!); if you get tuna in oil then wash it through first. Definitely no milk or even lactose free milk, you can get dried milk from the vet (around 40TL), I have a tin which you are most welcome to, tried it out on one of my outside cat's kittens but they preferred mum's milk! Good luck with Google, he looks a sweetie

Msg 21 - absolutely - and, shock horror (as I am not a cat lover) even I would have taken the little one in - can't bear to see any person or animal in dire straits..... I do think it could take mashed up cat food alongside water now - otherwise, it may always want just tuna - no idea, but as with children - if you start them with a varied diet, it helps prevent them being a Diva where food is concerned, also, their tum will get used to a variety of textures and food, which may also help prevent diarrhoea........ Just thoughts - but a Vet, surely, would give advice on best way forward now

Well google is devouring the tuna and seems to enjoy 1 part milk 3 parts water mix, also plain water,it goes between the 2 bowls. All seems very normal in the litter tray david says,he said his girlfriend touched or wiped the cats bum with some wet tissue, google ran in seconds to the little tray and used it,and coverd it up.They read that here, thought it was an old wives tale, deffo not,cat went direct to its toilet. Message 50. it will be lucky and very spoilt,i know his GF. Thanks for all the suggestions. He will keep the video diary and i shall post it on here.

Kitties do love milk but it really is not good for them. It was Pertev who told me not to give milk to cats, or oily tuna. Best get advice from Pertev or any vet. Get Google checked out with a vet anyway, he may have worms, fleas or both and will need cat flu vac and you will get more of an idea of his age.

What a lovely story, after such a sad start. Omaintenance I am sure that Google will love you forever. The videos were lovely to watch, but what sad eyes......and clearly missing mom. Thank you for sharing this with us...it makes such a nice change from most of the other threads on here. But, I would also agree, have him checked out by Pet Cross, the girls there just love cats and will advise on what to give him. You do need to be careful with giving milk, but have to confess I do spoil mine with just a little each morning for breakfast.

Kitten is so sweet, looks like it might have ear mites from the videos you've posted, but easily got rid of with ear drops. Will also defo need worming for sure - strays are inclined to be pretty infested with paracites - yuk. We used to have a ginger and white cat and we called her Chilli. Not that I'm any expert other than the fact I''ve raised 6 kittens through to adulthood and geriatric, but looking at this kitten's nether regions, I would say it's a boy. Good luck with 'it', it really is a wee stoater. Moyra

try googling catster, i found a tiny one , blue eyes ,she was the size of my palm, took her home ...tried the bottom wiping, cat bikkies in water ... i picked her up at 10 am by 4 pm she trotted off to the litter box!! no accidents. Never give them milk. This little one was on solids from day two , but do take it to the vets for jabs as she has not had a good start in life Baby is now 38 weeks, but still suckles my t shirts and pads me like im her mom, and cries when she cant see me. Google is a lucky little kitty , well done so was Baby lol
