Thinking of going to Thailand next year and wanted to know the best way of getting there from here, would it be Larnaca or Istanbul or fly back to UK. I am looking for direct flights as I will be with my 5 year old.

Any advice would be welcome

the best and cheapest way is to book online with http://www.egyptair.com you would have to change in Cairo but a lot cheaper than others. I don't think there is a direct flight with any carrier

No direct flights. Look at Emirates, from Larnaca to Dubai, then on to Thailand. Usually fairly good connections in Dubai.

Sounds great - can I come with you?

No direct flights - I suspect Larnaca - Dubai - Bangkok is the obvious one but mge 2 worth checking out

Hi

look at all options before you use Egypt we have been to Tailland a few times and went once via Egypt and it was once of the worse flights we have been on and small seats and thin seats made the trip very uncomfortable and not so good service we have travelled via Athens which was Ok and Dubai is good you can go via Istanbul direct and sometimes good prices so look around BUT not Egypt again for US

Hi

I was in Thailand in March, used Turkish airlines, from here in Cyprus this allows you to go through transit gate at Istanbul rather than going through immigration, then again Turkish airlines to Bangkok, the planes were new and service was excellent. and it was not expensive.

Enjoy it is a great country.

I agree with tlvccom - Turkish Airlines all the way.

HOWEVER - you must book early to get decent connecting flights otherwise you can end up waiting for hours at Istanbul. If you get it right you have about 2 hours to change planes. The earlier you book with TA the cheaper the tickets.

Hi as said above, no direct flights. We have been with Emirates via Dubai, Gulf Air via Bahrein, Royal Jordanian via Amman and also Turkish Airlines. We normally book through Expedia & as far as we are concerned the priority apart from the price is the time waiting at the airport to change planes. You can of course negate the price advantage if you have to pay for a hotel for the night but this breaks the journey and you arrive feeling much better!

I always book online with Turkish Airlines:-

You can pay online by credit card or make your booking and then go to a TA office to pay within a given time.

The same with hotels - it is always cheaper using the big booking agencies:-

mess 1.....

There are no direct flights from the trnc to Bangkok....

Turkish will fly from ercan - to Istanbul, change planes then on to Bangkok - only one downside - way way too expensive....

easily the best value for money (cheap price, with nice planes/seats and nice staff / food) is Gulf Air from Larnaca to Bahrein, change planes (transit passenger) then on to Bangkok.....

Depending n how long you want to stay in Thailand - You can get up to a 1 year visa from the Representitive of the Thai Consulate in Nicosia (British passport holders get 30 day visa automatically when arriving at BKK airport).....

only one problem i see - you won't want to go back to the KFC....

Most of the travelers prefer to visit Thailand during the winter period i.e. from November until March. Climate during this season is moderate and not unbearable hot. This is the ideal period to visit Thai and enjoy all the breathtaking recreational activities in this place.

I had 3 weeks in Thailand in May then a week in Spain, climate in Thailand was much better than Spain, so mess 13 I do not no where you are coming from by saying 'unbearably hot'.

For flights the best website is fly.com and for hotels try Agoda
