Ok there is no sex, but there is a tale of lies and TV's here. This thread relates to an earlier, now closed, thread on the forum here http://www.cyprus44.com/forums/66943.asp . While that thread was about someone asking for recommendations re buying a TV in the TRNC, which went quickly off topic, this one is about the allegations made in the earlier thread and the behaviour of a certain poster in that thread. That is the topic of this thread. Anyway I am aware that some, if not most users of this forum, have no interest in such things and the kind of 'study' I do of the closed thread involves going into quite tedious detail. As such I have posted the 'study' off board, so that it does not clutter things here and so that those with no interest can simply choose not to follow the link at all. http://www.visionmatters.co.uk/cyprus/SexliesandTV.htm

If the mods / admins think the subject of this thread is inappropriate then by all means let them close it. I will make no futher attempts to raise the issue of the behaviour shown in the thread reffered to. I posted off board because I wanted those not interested to have an easy way of 'avoiding' the detail of my 'study', not because I wished to make allegations about a certain posters behaviour here and for them to have no means of reply here. My view is that there is an issue here that relates to the forum and it can be discussed on the forum but I fully understand why others may think differently. It is a contentious issue and myabe its best not to raise it here for discussion. As I say I will happily abide by any mod decision on this to either close or even removed the thread entirely. I am afraid I will not myself ask for it to be closed myself, for doing so would in my view be unfair to the person who's behaviour I talk about.

Here's another example of a thread where Erolz get's it completely wrong in message 10 (pointed out in Washerman's post - message 9) but it is a better example of Izzet "Zorlu" and "Erolz" 'ganging' up together. Why, I wonder ? http://www.cyprus44.com/forums/20760.asp

I did make a mistake, which you pointed out and I accepted and thanked you for pointing it out. On the general issue of the best way to eliminate DNS resolution problems, what I said was and still is entirely correct. That is using ping is a better, easier way to test if DNS resolution is working from a given connection to a given site, than changing your DNS setting to another DNS server. It made sense then and it makes sense now. As for Izzet 'ganging up' with me against you, I see no indication of that in the thread you link to. I do see your standard use techniques of distortion and spreading confusion and dragging in entirely innocent people into your attacks, in this case Izzet.

No emabarrassment on my part. I stand by my posts, all of them, without shame or embrassment. I do accept however that it is for the mods/ admins to decide if this thread should stay, be closed or be removed entirely. Yet more 'insinutaiton' then. Keep em comming, as far as I am concerned they only re highlight and reinforce exactly the issue I am talking about in this thread.

Re msg13 - I think you intentfuly use distortion, confusion, misinformation and insinuation to attack certain posters as indivduals on this forum and not their arugments. I think such behaviour deserves to be challenged and highlighted.

Msg 14. So for someone who has this problem with an older Samsung TV, what does your own video refferanced suggest is the best advise to solving the problem? Do they suggest sending the TV back to the manufacturer with all the delay and hassle invovled in that or do they suggest something different and if they do does that relate to doing something with or on the TV itself or with the cable used to connect it ? What does the link you provided before http://forums.cnet.com/7723-13973_102-319407-0.html?tag=contentMain;posts show as the solution to the problem, not just from the person who orignaly stated the problem, but from two other posters as well ? Do they say they solved the problem by returning the TV to the maker to be repaired or do they in fact state they solved the problem by using a different cable ? Your own links themselves show that the problem can be solved by changing the cable.

Of all the forums that I am a member of this is the only one in which most thread initiators are attacked within the first 10 posts (unless they are in the cool gang) What is wrong with CYP 44 members? Too many keyboard assasins?

IbrahimAli I believe that the problem on cyprus44 are directly connected to its power as a means for businesses to reach an expat customer base. I was told explicitly by a person running such a business that if are not constantly posting their services on here then 'the phones stop ringing'. If this is true or not I do not know, but it is true that some here with services to offer believe it to be true. The problem then comes when company A posts information about his service, and someone else, for whatever reason and be it farily or unfairly critisies it. For company A who believes being able to post here is vital to their commercial sucsess this creates a problem. Some in turn then choose to try and destroy the credibility of anyone who undermins their adverts here. They do so using 'dirty tricks' for want of a better term. If they are challenged about such use of 'dirty tricks' they then turn on the person who challenges such.

[cont] there is an impetus for some who post here, for commercial reasons, to cross the line from validly promoting their businesses and defending it into using 'dirty tricks' agsint certain other posters they percieve as enemies and detrimental to their businesses. The people who I think do this, themselves are convinced they and their businesses have been be themseleves subject to 'dirty tricks' attacks, and probably with some justification. They then seek to seek to 'fight fire with fire' and with a determination to be even better at it than those they think have done it to them. The worst offenders in this category also then drag in others on the perihpery of such things if they dare to comment, with no regard for truth or who they may end up dragging in, farily or unfairly. That is why I think things are 'worse' here than other forums.

erolz Thanks for the reply. Some of the posts do sound more like 'plugs' for a particular venue , or keeping a high profile on the forum as many members know that the 'poster' is associated with a particular venue, just to keep the business up front and topical Shame really because there is a big world out there.
