I've just had this email from Monarch.

"Dear Beekeeper,

Please note, due to a change in company policy we regret to inform you that as you have pre-booked a meal for your flight with Monarch (with a flight number pre-fixed with ZB), we can no longer provide a complimentary tea or coffee.

This change applies indefinitely for flights from Friday 1st July 2011.

The Monarch team"

Would I have been less thirsty if I hadn't booked a meal?

Is this generated by a computer do you think??

They are meaniing that they are only notifying you of the loss of the complimentary tea/coffee because you had pre-booked a meal. The rest of us mortals have to pay for it cos we take a sarnie.

What a mean lot they are, they will be charging us to use the loos next!

You're lucky, when we travelled with them they had sold out of meals so we bought a sandwich, when we asked if we could have a coffee we were told that unless you were having a meal tea/coffee was unavailable. Later on in the flight they opened the bar so you could buy one !! would rather walk than fly with them.

Re: Msg5,

"...we are booked 17th July does that mean i have a 5 hours flight with no hot drink???? ..."

Is it beyond your means to pay 2 Euros for a cup of tea or coffee?

Msg 1

On the assumption that the 'pre-ordered' meal was paid for at the time of booking the flight ticket, which included complimentary tea or coffee as part of their contractual sales pitch with the meal, and sold as such, they legally haven't got a leg to stand on. Sue them on your return to the UK.

I thought it would be a good opportunity to resurrect this...

We have used Monarch a few times in the past and have been pleased with the flight etc. The credit crunch seems to be affecting all businesses.

I agree with Blade, take a bottle of water with you!

This is easily sorted,.. arrive at the airport 30mins earlier go to one of the many eateries at the airport and have a meal just before you get called to board.

Its better food and its cheaper.

Re: Msg 10,

What is crass is your lament about something as trivial as a free cup of tee/coffee, as if you were going to die of thirst should you be denied the freebie, and then calling it 'the principle'.

Some principle, indeed!

Much ado about nothing!

Re message 6,and who is starting the rumour, have travelled with Monarch scores of times, professional company, excellent service, polite and courteous staff, nothing too much trouble, flights invariably on time.Suggest you stick with Pegasus, comfortable flight on a proven Douglas DC9,excellent black laminated plastic seats, guaranteed to bring your rear end out in a sweat!
