As anyone else experienced problems with Digital Supreme and payment. Before we left for NZ, we paid them 3 months in advance taking us to middle of August. They sent an email this week demanding payment, we replied that we had already paid. They have now cut off the internet which means our house/pet sitter has no means of contacting us or anyone else by email. We have tried to phone them but no reply! I think this sort of behaviour displays a total lack of professionalism and customer service.

Totally surprised to hear this! They've been nothing but professional and proactive as far as we're concerned! Do try calling again, it surely must be a mistake.

In answer to your replies, we tried phoning and no reply (bearing in mind we are phoning from New Zealand!) we sent an email and had no reply. Today an email from our pet sitter saying they are demanding three months up front and she doesnt have that sort of money. Despite our protestations and the fact that we have been with them since January 2010 they refuse to accept our word on this matter. In my view this does NOT demonstrate good customer service.

Really surprised by this post, customer service from Digital Supreme has improved so much over the past 2 years, immeasurably since Jan joined the firm. Please try calling again Monday,05338342305,this has to be a misunderstanding.

Yes we can but receipt is back in TRNC about 9000 miles away! And we have tried phoning from NZ but we are unable to connect from our Turkish mobiles although they should be on roaming.

Yes we do - we printed it off as a record and deleted email but as I said we are 9000 miles away! However, credit where credit due, we have now received an apology from Digital Supreme, it has taken nearly two weeks but at least they now accept that we have in fact paid. An error with their billing system it seems.

Truffles808 - in reality there is no single 'best' internet package even for a given area or single best supplier in my opinion. A good starting point is looking at what 'technologies' there are, each with their own pros and cons, and working out what best suits your needs. From there you can then seek out a provider of such a service. There are 4 basic 'technologies' for providing internet access into homes in the TRNC. They are ADSL WiFi 3G 2 way Satellite Each have their pros and cons. Each have a range of suppliers and resellers. In the hope it might help you or others I will do a 'pros and cons' of each of these 4 types.

ADSL Pros - Cost, both of intital instal and of montly cost. Potential reliablity. Cons - Needs a land line phone. Limit coverage even if you have a landline phone. Relies on state telephone company, which can be slow to respond to faults and introduces a 'third party' between you and your supplier. WiFi Pros - Does not require a landline phone. Better coverage than ADSL. Cons - Cost compared with ADSL both install and monthly. Can be variable depending on what specific base station you are attached to. 3G Pros - Does not require landline phone. Better coverage than ADSL. Potentially high speed upto 7mbs. Mobile, can be used with laptop from many loactions. Cons - Variable depending on which specific base station you are attached. Priced on a per GB used basis. [cont]

2way satellite Pros - Does not require phone line. Can be used in just about any location. Bypasses TRNC infrastructure (except power) and also bypasses Turk Telekom connection out from the TRNC to the rest of internet. Cons - Cost both install and monthly. Stricter limits on download volumes than ADSL or Wifi. The above are the overall 'pros and cons' of the four base technologies for providing internet access to homes here in the TRNC. I almost certainly have missed some things but its a fair general overiew I think. Having decided which technology best suits your needs you can then look at which supplier to go for. This again is not an easy choice and personally I do not think there is a single 'best' option. Some of the technologies above are much more sensative to location for example, or more specificaly which actual base station you connect to, than others. This can mean a given supplier is good in one area but weaker in another. However determining this is not easy [cont]

not is it a 'static' thing. A given supplier on a given base station, may have plently of excess capacity on that bases station today, but in 3 months time may have added more users to it, and certain types of users (heavy downloaders) such that the capcity is increasingly 'squeezed' resulting in your connection behaving less consistently than it did orginally. For me personally and for general home use, I would say first look at an ADSL based system, if you have a phone line and are in ADSL supported area. If you do not have a phone line or have on that is not in an ADSL supported area, then you need to consider the other three options. If your data volume usage is not too high, then try and 'test' the 3G option in your area by borrowing someones laptop with 3G dongle. Because 3G is mobile this is possible and this will give you an idea of how well the connection will be for you. Try and test it at a range of different times if possible.

Thank you ever so much erolz. At present we use nethouse which is ok but does drop in and out a lot. I am not sure if it is nethouse or if our router is not brilliant (tp link 300mbps advanced wireless N). It's just nice to know what alternatives there are out there. I had heard of the satellite connection and wondered if was better.

re 20 of 22 ErolZ re 2 way sat pros and cons .. I'm 'biased' as I have a vested interest in 2way sat.. ErolZ is only partially correct - basing his summary on OLD 2-way sat technology.. the new service that started on June 1st 2011 gives a minimum 6 Megs down and 600 Kkps up for 24.99/ month - but early adaptors are regularly getting 14-18Mps down and up to 1.2Mps up ! The national lottery in the UK has been using the OLD tech version for donkey's years and how often doe THAT go down? .. Can't say that for the reliability of many 'TRNC' ADSL / WiFi connections :( The service is EU wide with EU stds of reliability. The data allowance IS much more restrictive than other alternatives - so if you want to download video content - this is NOT the service for you.. but if you just want to surf/ email / use voIP / SKYPE / use facebook/ MSN chat / download music - with the occasional vid download.. then the RELIABILITY wins .. We hope to bring this service to Cyprus real soon,

( cont) .. If you DO want to download loads of Vdeo, then you can upgrade to higher packages and fill your boots.. We now have one client in the wilds of Glos'shire - who d/loads vids from you tube - as they are Music A&R and producers, respectively- for THEM this service has allowed them to work in the country permanently !
