Great news. About time too! Friends who fly from Newcastle will be

glad too, as they prefer to travel the same difference to Glas. than Manchester

Sorry to deflate this thread - CTA confirmed their summer schedule this week which our web designer has put up on our web site.

No Glasgow on it, no extra Manchester or Birmingham on it and no Belfast either.

They might just add something but that was promised last year too.

Pegasus are intending to have more flights for summer 2009 and some hopefully flying to further North in the UK but to be sure we need to wait till December when they hope to publish!

Am booked to fly Pegasus next Sun. from Stansted but connecting flight

from Glas. has now proved useless. 1st Ryanair cancelled return flight,

then booked with Easyjet but now Pegasus changed their departure time

by 10 mins. & I would not make it, so have to cancel flight again. No other

flights available early a.m. Looks like only chance is to take overnight coach

to Heathrow & get a coach to Stansted. Thought my days of doing that were

over! Any ideas?

I know the problems your going through I too had this sort of nightmare with Flybe trying to get from Edinburgh to Birmingham, eventually had to fork out another £1000 to get seven of us on a BMI flight after Flybe pulled their early morning one at the last minute. Certainly put a damper on our holiday!!!

I vowed never to use a same day domestic connecting flight again and although it wont help you this time I recommend that you use Globespan from Glasgow to Paphos during the winter season(£170 return) then get someone to pick you up from the airport and take you to your villa (£140 return) Believe me it is far and away the best way to do it....also flight times are brilliant!!

£140 return for pickup Larnaca. Is that what it costs now on average.?

Was £80 just over a year ago.

Hire a car in Paphos and it can take you to the north and back as well as provide transport for the whole break - on both sides of the island. The car hire alone is probably cheaper than a return taxi fare.

Globespan to Paphos do it all the time its the cheapest option, only problem with car hire flight arrives late at night and by the time you get to border no one there to sell you insurance, have to wait 5 or 6 hours untill some one turns up not a pleasant experience. If you want to spend a bit more money good flight connections/times with KLM from Glasgow to Larnaca--try booking it with Ankara Travel in Cyprus.

What I can't understand is, why would Stevie get an email and then when Tom checks there appears to be no such intention... baffling

Thanks for your info. and advice everyone. My son, who was there last month to play golf, was asking about Paphos, as he fancied hiring a car, playing golf in the South then driving to the north later to play again at Karakum (golf mad!)

I have just booked the overnight Nationalexpress to Victoria from where I shall have ample time to commute to Stansted, breakfast, lunch & duty free. Return journey should be no prblm. Very cheap, but long journey.

Not he first but third time I have checked - next will be at WTM next week - I will let you kbnow if anything interesting is "confirmed".

I know a little of the background to the email and it would have been sent in good faith that information supplied at quite a high level was correct.

The published scedules do change and sometimes flights are withdrawn - last summer published was three MAN / ECN flights but it was reduced to two before the first CTA summer flight had taken off. We are still waiting for an official confirmation though!
