Has anyone else tried to book a flight with Pegasus online, only to end up with a 'system error' message? Then find out that they've taken money from your credit or debit card (both in my case), but you end up with no confirmation and no flight?

I should at this point in time be on final approach to London Stansted, but am still here in North Cyprus sorting things out. A nice man called Selim, at their Istanbul call centre assured me that both cards will be refunded in 7 working days (inshallah), hopefully that is the case, but it doesn't inspire me to want to use them again. Has anyone else experienced this? What a carry on!

After successfully completing a booking, when you click on "My Profile" -> "My Travel Details" the booking should be listed with the state "Ticketed PNR".

I assume this is what they see at check in. If a booking is not listed there, then I would assume there is a problem. If I make a booking, I always double check that list.. If at the end of making the booking I get a "System Error" message, I would definately double/triple check!!

Are you saying that the booking was listed on that page and the status was "Ticketted PNR" but you could not check in? That is very bad, especially if they took the payment so you assumed all was ok..

No, what I am saying is that at the point where the bank asks for a personal security check before paying out the money the screen reverted to a 'system error'. I couldn't get back into the flypgs website but the system had already taken the money. There was no record of me on the flight (I checked a few days ago with Pegasus in Lefkosa), so the system had spat my application out but still taken the dosh. My credit card company contacted me by text to check whether the payment was legit, but only after they had paid it. I had assumed, wrongly, that because it was an error, then the money would not be taken, so I tried again with another card and the same thing happened. It took a few days for the second transaction to hit my bank, so I only found out yesterday. I was paying in sterling for a oneway flight, if that makes any difference. I surely can't be the only one this has happened to. Selim didn't seem very surprised, so I imagine this must happen a lot?

Same thing happened to me, i booked on 19th june, and 3 amounts have come out of my account, one amount credited automatically by pegasus but still trying to get back the other amount, tried call centre twice, email three times, popped into shop in girne and rang my bank! Bank was useless, told me i had to prove i only have one flight booked and to wait until after the flight date in Oct so they can see i only travelled once? Duh! Im giving pegasus a chance to rectify this before i take it any further........

Seems you are having problems when it gets to the "Verfied by Visa / Mastercard" page...

One thought, you don't have Adblock Plus or similar installed do you? I had similar problems on various websites whilst making payments until I switched that off. Fortunately, it was whilst paying for flights.

Lots of ad-blockers and antivirus things stop popups, information pages and affiliates that you might want from the site you are looking at.

Maybe that's true but surely if they get to the point where they are taking your money, you should be booked on the chosen flight, pop-up or no pop-up. I would have thought that, wouldn't you?

Cyprusguest, yes these adblockers can cause problems.

The reason I mention it is that I specifically had problems with Adblock+ and the Verfied by Visa/Mastercard securecode page when I had it switched on, and OP seems to have problems at that point in his booking...

By the way, I booked a flight a few weeks before for my wife, and there wasn't a problem. Same website, so explain that.

If you go through an agent most of these problems seem not to occur. Gooligan I guess that is why good agents seem to like to hold an option before they give you the price.

msg 7, that is certainly true.. If they take the money, then the ticket should be booked...

If it fails prior to that, then they should not take the money!

Msg 7 & 12 - If your money fails then the flight is not booked and the machine probably does not know how to relate the money to the option. It would be a very complex program.

Msg 10 & 11 - As an agent I agree with you and we insist on holding options, it gives us far more work but does mean we give an honest price which we can hold for some hours and that things are less likely to go wrong if cards fail etc.

Message 10 - Did you get charged even though it failed? I assumed wrongly that I wouldn't be, and tried again with another card only for the same thing to happen again. If I get refunded as promised I will put it all down to experience, but I hope they sort it out soon as it doesn't happen with BA, Moinarch, Eazyjet, Thomson or another other company I've booked online with. Well it hasn't with me, anyway.

Tom, Hi by the way, the point is the money didn't fail, the booking of the flight ticket did. If it had happened the other way around I wouldn't have bothered complaining

Thamks for the heads up. We have credit cards with the security page so will not use those. Also had the situation with the old system where it reserved the seats then crashed before payment and yes price increase when you went back in because it thought the seats were on reserve. I prefer the new system where you just book or pay to hold seats. I wonder how much it has cost us all on the old system because of seats being reserved and not taken, you often used to see seats changing in price up and down.

Just a note re the price increase, I have found that if you wait for 15 minutes or so and then try again the price reverts back to the original.

You will all be pleased to know that I bit the bullet, crossed everything, turned off my popup blocker and tried again. I fly with Pegasus next Tuesday. Security check with my credit card company didn't require me to enter password details, which I thought strange. Still, I have my e-ticket, so all's well that ends well.

To Pegasus' credit they have refunded both of my cards within a few working days, not the seven I was quoted. Hope they iron out the glitch in their online booking system as it must be costing them thousands.
