Obviously you do not have access to Cyprus Today...Wed 13th Article entitled "SEWAGE"....in the sea.It is not a stupid remark ,it is a very serious public health issue,of which you seem shall we say, complacent ..........

If you read the article properly you would see that the problem is nowhere near Cornaro Beach, which is situated in ÇATALKÖY.

I have been wondering about the article I read. It sounded pretty nasty stuff- they did indeed make it sound like a very serious public health issue. We have 2 small children and it has put us off taking them to the beach altogether. Can the sewage not travel down or up stream over time?

I would love to go to the beach but I don't want my children getting sick.

I wonder if anyone knows if it is infact safe in Catalkoy or further over the East side - like Vogue Beach?

I currently use Deniz Kızı beach and Alagadi. I have had absolutely problems.

In 2002 I did get a bad e-coli infection from Kervansaray beach but then you used to be swimming amongst things you'd rather not as they came out of the sewerage pipe. It was thoroughly cleaned up a few years ago though and I used it again a couple of years ago with no problems at all.

As you say you have two small children, the beach at Deniz Kızı would be perfect as it is a very safe sandy beach with very shallow and still water. The facilities are excellent and the entrance is 6tl. I know it is on the wrong side, but for children it is excellent.

If the Typhoid,E-coli, Salmonella levels are as high as they say,and multiplying fast, then the whole of the Harbour area should be made off limits for bathing...........In any other properly governed country it would be mandatory..

We take the children regularly to Lara - never had any problems. It has plenty of sunbeds and shade, nice rock areas for exploring, gentle sloping beach and shallow calm water. It is 5TL pp and there is a little cafe/bar there which is great for ice creams and cold drinks (although we do sneak a cool bag in with our own snacks and drinks !). The kids love it there.

Have also used Deniz Kizi and again no probs 0 just a bit of a drive from Catalkoy.

Went and had a look at Diana the other day and there were quite a few families there and it looks much cleaner than previously.
