Police have been sent to protect Oxford Street. The rioters are not even in Oxford Street, they're 10 Miles away!

They should cancel the Nottingham Hill carnival now, that's in a couple of weeks.

The Solicitors will be rubbing their hands with joy!!!! All that lovely legal aid paid by the tax payers.

Oh and the printers will be churning out boxes of £80 fixed penalty notices (Section 5 Public Order Act) as the courts won't be able to cope.

I really do despair of what my country has become, it is sad so sad!!!!

what is the government waiting for, call in the army to sort these thugs out. but thugs have more laws protecting them than the good and respectful. so they will just carry on buring and stealing.

I remember when the Brixton riots spawned copycat riots in other cities - in Manchester it was Moss Side. They largely got away with it the first night because the police were unprepared but the next day James Anderton (the then Chief Constable) announced that anyone found on the streets that night would be considered a rioter. Then he sent his people in HARD - there was no third night. He was pilloried in the press but he did his job - he stopped the rioting dead in its tracks.

Philadelphia, which has spent years trying to overcome violent crime, has announced a nighttime curfew for minors in its historic downtown in an attempt to stop flash mob invasions by rampaging teenagers.

Dear TopTen

you'd better stop thinking like that - as Cypriots might feel the same way..... in the 'south' they blame the increased crime on the foreigners who came in with EU immigration or illegal immigrants... ( who mostly arrive from..... )

As ever, bad apples don't mean that Powell ( or Griffin) are 'right'...

6ms Human rights people have got the UK in the mess its in by pussy footing about,it is ime to take of the kid gloves and give them the punishment that their own country would mete out to them. And as for bad apples how many bad ones are there in the UK, Powell was a respected tory mp who foresaw the troubles that would be created by not keeping immigration under control

Topten look at the coverage, this is not immigrants, this is kids black and white thinking they are having a laugh. I have a business in clapham junction and my staff are scared to go to work (although they have gone in) Worrying about how this has happened is for a later date and will need toughening of lots of laws including immigration, right now though flood the streets of London with army, that will stop the little idiots thinking they can do what they want. One of my staff who lives in Clapham saw a group of youths pushing a trolley from TK Max full of stolen property laughing and saying "this is like Christmas". The whole area is in tatters, mob rules, start a curfew and send in the army and lets not bleat about police brutality if some looter gets hurt, prosecute the parents too. It makes me sick to think this is what my country has come too. English but not proud.

A extra 10,000 police to be drafted in tonight. All leave now cancelled out for the police. Jails now full so anyone caught will be taken to a jail outside London. Even a police station was set on fire in Birmingham. Someone blamed poverty for this, however a spokesperson stated that those arrested all wore designer gear, top of the range trainers and top of the range phones

DesiH; "Extract from Todays Daily Telegraph; It has emerged that a bullet found in a police radio was issued by the force, suggesting it was not fired by Duggan."

I suggest you look at posts no 126 and 129 - first part of this thread http://www.cyprus44.com/forums/70488.asp

I am afraid, typical as always, most are looking to remove the cancerous growth, rather than the cure which can only be applied, if the underlying reasons are identified! As things stand, screaming out "shoot them all" will only make things worse, by the innocent getting caught in the cross fire & dying. The scenario is set to turn UK into one of those science fiction films, where "anarchy" rules nation.

with many hundreds arrested there are thousands more out in the street challenging the police. One can get somewhere quicker with less loss, if they are willing to find out the answer to the question "WHY?"

every cloud has a silver lining. Tomorrow's "friendly" soccer match between England and Netherlands has been cancelled. That's one group of thugs that won't be kicking lumps out of us.
