In flight meals extra @ about £8 as I recall.

Taxi Ercan to Lapta.....budget for £30.

Excess baggage £6 per kilo (when I was last charged.)

Good Airline though very professional.

pegasus are quite strict with one hand luggage and five kilos weight limit but do give you 25 kilos in hold luggage. If it is a connecting flight with a different airline there is an area in Stanstead where you can transfer your five kilos around from hand to hold luggage. Person in front of us in September was charged between £7 and £8 per kilo excess. Sometimes easier to get a hire car from the airport most firms will meet you there outside arrivals. For girne area try A-one car hire reasonable rates and good service. No rip offs with fuel and reasonable rates.

We are booked to come out with pegasus on the 24th but only have 20kg of hold luggage and 5kg hand luggage. We did have 25 when we used them last time but that was about 2 years ago

Seat register is very tight fror a gorilla like me. But its a new 737 with generous room at the emergency exits by the wing, so its worth asking. But better seat register than the small Avro's that Turkish use, for those that have travelled with them.

MEAL ?

No meal as such, but a menu of rolls, pringles, beer, wine etc. priced singly in euro. Not cheap but sufficient.

You can stand up for a break at the stopover, but you have to keep out of the aisle as they refuel - the usual rule on all airlines for this.

Cheers

Scampy,

I agree about Singapore Airlines. I went to Perth earlier this year and they were the best I have ever flown. Also flew with Emirates to Perth about 6 weeks later and they were not as good.

So you will be fine with Singapore.

Good luck.

Pegasus are also fine.

We flew earlier this year to TRNC with them from Stanstead.

The plane was brand new, leather seats and plenty of leg room.

There were no meals included and from the look of the card in the back of the seat, I'm not sure you would want to buy some of it anyway.

Just take some good old pack up on the flight and eat your own.

just flew this sunday from stansted to ercan with pegasus. The allowance is 25 kilo per person and 5 kilos hand luggage. the excess bagage is 7 pounds per kilo. They are very strict with the weight and charge even if one kilo over. All food and drinks you have to pay for. If in stansted in departures Boots the chemist do and sandwich drink and snack for about 3.90 pounds.

I'm flying out from Ercan to Stanstead on the 24th December, first time back in four years, so I don't know the rules from Ercan anymore, people talk about a little plastic see through bag which you have to get to put lip gloss etc as it cant go in with hand luggage, but is the weight the same 5 kilo hand and 25 kilo's holding luggage, things have changed so much in the 4 years and as I'm flying on my own I don't want to get things wrong.

You will be o.k. at Ercan re plastic bag it is in Europe that the rule appies. It is possible (or was) to book the extra legroom seats on Pegasus. We booked the front seats a couple of years ago and well worth it.

Smithy,

MAKE SURE that you put all liquids, and that includes suntan lotions, toothpaste, oitments etc in

your hold luggage (as opposed to hand luggage). Last time I had my toilet bag in my hand luggage, and they took about £30 worth of goods from me. Suntan Lotion,Toothpaste

deodorant etc. It only seems to apply flying out of the UK not in...........Why we might ask?

nothing to do with pegasus , but i have flown with them before , i'm not a giant by any means { 5ft 7ins at the week-ends in my 4inch stilleto's } and found it very cramped , i just wanted to say we are flying with ba to africa and we are allowed 23kg hold luggage and 23kg hand luggage providing you can get in a 22" x 17.52 x 9.8" case , i have never had that before , it will be a miracle if the plane lifts off at all !

regards , simbas

Haven't flown this route or this airline before.

Grateful for the tips given on the forum especially about taking your own packed lunch from Boots in the dept lounge.

Clicking on Pegasus web site to see if you can prebook carriage of golf clubs, most other airlines you can.

Found one peice of onfo telling you carriage of sporting equipment will be charged, poss as excess baggage. That's fair enough.I n the next breath they are saying excess baggage will be accepted only if there is room on the aircraft.

What happens if you turn up with your clubs and there isn't room? Has anyone taken golf clubs on this route Stansted to Ercan with Pegasus airline?

roblyn,

Excess Baggae is always subject to hold and load capacity on every airline as they have a priority with safety, cargo and livestock (in some order)

Peagsus are more commercial in their views than CTA so allow less of the goodies like the sports gear. None the less better leg room to my experience and slightly better condition aircarft too.

a PS to my earlier posting.

We flew out with them 10 days ago and they now have a choice of 2 hot meals to order on the plane, for 10 euros if I remember. But the cheese ciabatta's were as good as I remembered from the last flight - as airline meals go. The Angora red is still good too !

cheers

smithy they do allow liquids under a certain ml but something silly like 50 ml probably less . i know this as i was ok with nail varnish since they relaxed the liquid ban and gloss and mascara i had too, but no paste or anything big like deodrants.

they provided me with bag in uk airport to put these small items in before scanning. this was two months ago.

i flew out of manchester smithy if that helps.

Arry,

Stopover was 40 mins going out as it was late taking off from Stan. Coming back it was just on an hour but we landed on time at Stan.

Next time I will try Larnaca and hire a car from one of the firms mentioned here that are insured for the north. I usually go Larnaca when I fly out on business and on BA the seat register is so much better than Peggy. Though I might give the Monarch Luton - Larnaca route a go. A bit cheaper too and I can get a bus to Luton from Leighton Buzzard.

cheers

Flew with them 2 weeks ago & meals were 10euros for chicken or steak

Sandwiches 4 ytl & wine Angora as you say was fine but they did say they

have Cankaya but didn't. Fine at the very good price I think

Stop in Istnbul was about 30 mins. going but 1 hr. returning.

If you book a rental car from Esentepe hotel for min. 7 days they will pick

u up & drop you from Ercan free. (They undercharged me & would not take

the money I knew I owed) £15 a day for car.

I can recommend Monarch, I have flown with them the last three times to Larnaca. On my way back three weeks ago we took off ten mins early !!!

They are very rarely late leaving and the planes are brand new .

No onboard meals unless you pay but the food they sell is very good . \cannot fault them and you can check in online a week in advance and book your seat.

Sorry I don't think Pegasus are offering anything but Stansted in the next 6 /8 months.

Ther is of course an alternative airline not mentioned that is even starting a regular Birmingham service this winter to Istanbul.

Thanks Arrry

I will report back when I try them which will hopefully be soon.

Looks like I might be able to choose a seat with some legroom for my lovely little fat body and long legs.
