When the Dutch based Turkish airline Corendon started weekly flights to North Cyprus (last year) passengers on Amsterdam Schiphol Airport only read Amsterdam-Antalya on the departure board. I now noticed it has all changed. People now read Amsterdam-Antalya-ERCAN! Well done, Schiphol Airport!

Paul, it's only about a 30 minutes stop at Antalya because of politics (and - rather important - refueling...). I did it yesterday and can live with it. Let's hope it's all a matter of time before the whole world comes to its senses...

Hans

Do you think it is the world that needs to come to it's senses ....................or Turkey?..............or both.........

however

,as things stand I honestly cannot see that lasting very long................advertising an airport in an unrecognised part of the world......................and all that.............

Ercan is posted as a destination at Gatwick and Stansted. Was posted as a destination at LHR when CTA flew from there since 1987.

Yes, because that was the name registered by the Turkish DGCA. In order for KTHY to fly between TRNC and Europe (or any where else) we had to ride on the back of Turkish Airlines' "AOC" (airline operators certificate). When KYHY flew from Ercan to UK via Turkey the flight number was KTHY to Turkey and then TK to europe. Simple.

'simple' would have been, had you written 'unrecognised'.
