I've blocked new member registrations until I sort this out.



I've disabled some member accounts and will continue to do so.



I've deleted posts that serve no purpose.



I am now implementing a "Report Post" feature recommended by a valuable member here.



I will get more moderators this week.

I have already chosen a few very reliable people whom I will contact once I am back in Cyprus.

(It's just amazing what a mess the forums become within a few days time)



If you think you can moderate, please send me an email off board.

I will be selective. Feel free to tell me why I should choose you.

Unfortunately it is impossible to stop people rejoining any forum after being banned.



The easy things like using another name, another e-mail address etc are easy to do. Changing IP address is slightly more difficult but even with a small knowledge of the internet it can be achieved. So the answer to Sue and others if this person wants to return it would be easy to do.



The main answer to this problem has been given by Izzet and that is to appoint more moderators who will then need to be far more vigilant than as this week end and act as soon as a problem unfolds. The problem for the moderator is they must be dispassionate and fair and have time to spare. Personally I would not have the job if it were gift wrapped, it really is a thankless job and I have great regard and respect for many of the good moderators around the various forums.

Poss the bad boy image and being talked down to may have excited them.

I'm no saint, but please spare the dramatics.



Lets hope the forum can get back to what it was several months ago with informative subjects and light hearted banter, not repetative anti TRNC guff.

Bill, your kind words are very much appreciated. The membership have now had the chance to experience a genuine bad-ass and extremely twisted and malicious individual (under several guises). While some of us can deal with these people at their own level, others, especially some of our "silver surfer" friends, may never come across someone like this online and they deserve protection.



It's great that this is now happening and I'm glad you made the distinction between the foul-mouthed abusers and people like Susanne and me, who offer the alternative viewpoint but do so without resorting to personal attacks. That said, I hope this turning point will also ensure protection from abuse for those who do not represent the majority view.

britvic, I think he can only spread a virus if the email is actually opened, so best to delete any unsolicited emails WITHOUT opening them. Also if they actually had his email address on them (would he dare?) they can be reported as spam.

Personally I think he'll have moved on to some other unsuspecting BB by now - he enjoys winding people up and likes to actually see the upset he causes - don't think he's bright enough to start spreading viruses!

So you want to Select Search the web

That will give every option available.

Not abuse and not swear words , but a definate deliberate personalisation of a thread and a dig at me as a person and not my comments or arguments. That is not offering an alternative viewpoint. It was calculated personalisation of a thread discussion. Attack ? It would be really nice for everyone to draw a line under the nastiness that was last week. Compromises have to be made by some to bring this forum back to the very nice place that it used to be.



That said, I will be the first to admit that sometimes I have been sharp in my responses, and if I offended anyone at anytime, then for that I apologise. So let's just start with a clean slate eh?
