Hi there, we will be travelling to Ayia Napa very soon so would be most grateful for directions. I have only crossed the Metehan border to go south before - is it this border that i use?!? any help much appreciated.

Becky,

Do not know where you live, but if driving best border crossings would be either Beyermadu or Famagusta.

If you go through Berermadu, approx 1.5km over border turn left (do not go straight on to Pyla), you carry on and come to a 't' junction, turn left agin go over motorway and turn right on to the motorway approx 30km to Ayia Napa.

If you go through Famagusta crossing just go straight on Ayia Napa is sign posted on roads.

If you are familiar and therefore more comfortable using the Metehan border, take the motorway as if you are going to the Larnaca Airport. Just before Larnaca you will exit onto another motorway that will take you directly to Ayia Napa. The motorways have plenty of signs to get you there with no problems. It is a very easy drive.

Re ; msg 4 - "Is there much difference in time (between crossing at Magusa and crossing at Metehan)?"

I would estimate the difference to be about 15 to 20 minutes ... ie. not that much ... and so if you're comfortable with crossing at Metehan, then probably best to stick with it.

Agia Napa is a really nice place for a day out. Forget what you think you know about the place and give it a look. Tie it in with a visit to Cape Greko (take a picnic).

Only really stupid people would slag off a place off before visiting.

The TRNC is good fun, but Cyprus is a relatively small Island, why would you ignore 70% of it?

It's very quiet now in the south, it gets to oct 31st, and most places shut !!!!!!!! But it's nice and quiet, compared to the summer. Napa is good in the daytime. But if ur expecting wild nights out, it's the wrong time of the year, most bars are shut! Plenty of other places to go, just outside Napa.

Ayia Napa is an example of the damage Brits have done to the island and an indicator of what Kyrenia will be like in the not too distant future. Be warned !!!
