Hi,need help.We keep looking at long term rental property in the Kyrenia area and keep coming across the above village.Have googled it but not much comes up other than more property to rent or buy. So,can anyone out there give us any information about this area.We dont drive and have been told that Catalkoy, which is nearby, has a good bus service, but how nearby is it.How far to Kyrenia,we like to walk as well as take the bus.Any information would be much appreciated.

Thanks

John

Hi Menace,

If you like to walk, Bufavento village is a good choice.

Not suitable if you don't drive, I would say!

On Cyprus Home page, under sections on left,

scroll down to North Cyprus Map,

You can zoom in to where you want, or download it for easy access.

Best looking for accomodation near any of the main roads with frequent dolmus services, suitable for non drivers.

Hi Menace,

Choose anywhere between Karakum and Lapta and go as far inland as you dont mind walking every time you go out. The dolmus minibus services from either direction will take you into Girne on a regular cheap service and you wont need a car.

Although a clothes-peg and proper life insurance isn't a bad idea.

Hi Pipie,

Can you give me more information on the bus service to Tatlisu and does it run along the coast road or up through the villages? Hope it is now running along the coast road past all the new developments. Do you have the times?

I am asking because I always have to hire a car when I go out and half the time it just sits on the drive, so a bus would be fantastic.

I am sure you are right Pikey, I have never been on one, nearly been in the back of plenty when they lurch to a stop without warning. But these guys dont drive. Perhaps someone has a couple of bikes for sale!

What you like with in-line skates Menace?

Hi Pipie,

Thanks very much for your help, much appreciated. We live just past the Antique bar & Restaurant opposite the Pop Inn, so Esentepe bus is just a touch too far to walk to, especially in summer. A coastal road bus or dolmus would be great.

The Tatlisu bus must go right past your front door.

Inline skates are not a good idea, when you are 6'3" with the grace of a 3 legged giraffe its not a good picture.

Bufavento village is two miles from the main road, Catalkoy is over two miles and most of the roads have no pavements. THe bus service is a joke. You must have a car.

I live in Bufavento Village and you do need a car its about 45mins walk into Catalkoy village(down hill) where you can get a bus or 30mins walk to Ani restaurant where you can get a bus. Its a lovely place to live though.
