Turkey was required to open ports and airports as part of a EU entry chapter i believe.

I am not sure that anything about Ercan was included in that deal??

But they have made the first move so it can only be a good thing.

I don't think the GC's will go for it? because allowing flights from Ercan whilst talks are still ongoing give the TC's a slight upper hand.

This airport situation is not all down to the Roc, remembering direct flights were refused in the UK courts due to international regulations.

At least someone has made an effort but for what reasons i wonder??

The writing has been on the wall for such a long time that the letters are starting to fade.

Its all about axxe covering now, where the only solution is NO solution.

Not sure if this actually has any relevance to this thread but recently noticed that Turkish airlines have re-classified Lefkosa Ercan from an International destination to a Domestic one.

When i flew back from Paris to Ercan in October my transit baggage was tagged as International, last week however on the same route it was tagged Domestic transfer.

also noticed that when you search Turkish airlines website for flights Lefkosa Ercan now comes in list for airports in Turkey whereas it was previously listed under 'Countries - KKTC'

another interesting note is that Skyscanner.com no longer list Ercan on their Cyprus airports list (but no listing under Turkey)
