Why are flight prices on this site over £200 more than if you book direct with CTA,

Just asked this site for return from Manchester for 2 people, £700 but book direct and they are less than £500..................anybody ?

Turtle - very good question!! Admittedly, we come from Stansted and earlier this year we booked for June 2009 direct with CTA at £207 per person with good flight times. We felt this was good, as only £10.00 per person more than last year. We've recently seen Pegasus flights at a fraction of the cost! Still need to book for September, but, I agree, quite confusing!

That works out at less than £150 each return ?

I just priced with Pegasus and they are more expensive that CTA

Cooper thanks, but by the time I drive to Stansted park my car for 3 weeks its just as cheap to fly CTA from Manchester.

Just tried to book with CTA what a nightmare, do these people want business or what ?

Hi, we live about 35/40 minutes drive from Stansted and have quite a large secure driveway. We are considering offering to take forum members to Stansted from here for £50 return and to charge £5 per day parking, so that people can take advantage of the cheaper flights - does this sound like a good deal? - Any takers?

Laptagal, If you were living over here and advertised such like you would get bombarded with replies such as do you have appropriate insurance, will you declare your earnings and pay taxes, will you inform your ins co re using premises for business.

laptagal. £5 for 14 nights is £70 plus 50, so a total of 120. If you prebook online you can park at Stansted for £95 for 14 nights so I don't think that is such a good deal. Sorry

Car parking quoted to a client yesterday at £90 with hotel for 2 weeks Stansted July 09 OFF Airport

We have Holiday Express for more but it is "on airport" see http://www.flightholiday.co.uk/fh/Hotels_Stansted_Airport_Express_Holiday_Inn.php they do include a continental breakfast transfers by bus about £2.00 but some transfers can be by cab (which you pay for) depending on your arrival time

Different offers are around some include transfers one way some both ways some have deals on one leg of the transfer some include breakfast etc.

Don't forget when parked on private grounds your car insurance is not valid.

Is this Travel Agent lore? Or is it fact? My old fully comp insurance contained no such provision...

groucho

that is a fact.

years ago an idiot smashed into my car, whilst i was in it.

i was at a small private airport car park.

i had witness's but i spent 2 years trying to get any payout from his insurance company.

in the end i gave up.

they used this as the reason for not paying out.

Hi Groucho - promise I only state facts if I am aware of them and as up to date as I can.

If it is rumour or hearsay I try to avoid it and always try to mention if it is so too (likewise "I am not sure" features often in my postings).

Look at the disclaimers in most parking areas and also look at your insurance documents if there is an inusrer that does cover you off road I would be interested to know who it is. Very often even the rescue services (like the RAC AA etc) do not offer you this service - again read the contract. Very often if you break down in a car park the car park owner may have a contract with the rescue services to assist you off their premises.

By the way how are you doing with your paracetamol grey import business?

Far too serious some people and thanks for your offer it was very kind of you.

I am now sorted for next year but if I need to fly from Stansted in the future I will give you a call.

Thanks again

You did very well. I booked a few weeks ago direct with CTA and it was then £700+ for 2 MAN - ECN. Booking was fairly painless.

Hi Breezyboy

What dates are you flying with CTA it sounds a little pricy against Pegasus from Stansted but still around the current levels - the later people book the more it will cost.

There are other options to Ercan from North of Watford it as always depends on where and when etc.

A small general note - none of the airlines are allowing the long options that an agent could hold in the past because far too many passengers tried to block seats by booking with two or more agents and even the airline all at the same time and the airlines had seats to sell at the last minute which were expensive and they could not shift! Be wise book early http://www.flightholiday.co.uk

Hi fligtholiday, 20/12 to 3/01. I live 40 mins from MAN so dont want to drive for hours to Stansted.. in October it cost nearly as much Turkish via Istanbul. These wee not available for the dates I wanted this time. Now they have two flights a day Turkish is quite good and can be done without stopovers..

Do you know how long CTA are going to fly twice a day from Man at least on Saturdays?

Hi Turtle - We are mainly a manual company as we try to give a load of service (which computers don't) most sorry but we had some computer probs. and worked on people who were trying to leave earlier than your September flight. Early in the new year we will be changing our methods which should reduce this type of congestion problem. Hopefully next time we will respond to you and E earlier. Many, many thanks for trying us.

Hi Breezyboy,

Price right now £385 each for those flights including taxes

Last time that CTA offered two Manchester flights a day they took the offer down before they had enough seats filled - so I am not keen to say how many flights they will schedule; they do try to offer extra flights when they are sure it will be economic and with the new more restictive booking rules it may be easier for them to see if that is the case.

My Crystal ball she is broke! I can't give you more than waffle most sorry.

I'm not sure what this topic is all about but it was headed flights so am going to add a bit of info for you. I just received an Easyjet newsletter to say they will be flying into Larnaca next summer. At present they only fly into Paphos. These flights will be from Gatwick.

Just went to book Monarch Larnaca/Luton for Jan. What first showed as approx £88 one way, with luggage €14, booking fee €4 and exchange rate, ended up as £121. Return Monarch £68. Why the difference? Pegasus £100 there, £105 back, so its going to be Pegasus there, Monarch back.

Thank god EasyJet will be flying to Larnaca from the UK from April 2009 onwards. With easyjet we can forget about all these ripp off airlines. Easyjet has also unlimited hand luggagge and they so dam cheap.

Thank you Easyjet for flying to Laranaca. Well done!!!

I will be careful when using new agencies. Its always best to pay a little extra and that way you are guranteed to fly. Still you paid way too much compared to Easyjet.
