Has anyone tried to buy furniture in the south and bring it North, If so, how easy was it and what crossing did you use?.

As it is against customs regulations to buy furniture from Ikea and bring it North without first obtaining an Import Certificate I do not think you will get many replies.

We have brought loads of stuff from ikea, a king size bed. mattress and my whole kitchen.

My advice would be 'luck' needs to be on your side. try and only bring one thing at once that way you won't loose everything if the worst happens.

Most stuff from ikea is flat packed , so load it under your shopping.

Pick a day when its peeing down with rain, customs hate searching cars in the rain!

We use Metehan crossing, they are pretty ok as long as they are not a a blitz that day.

Flat pack stuff not usually a problem, I have always removed it from the boxes, and accept it may be taken.

Try crossing at Bostanci, the crossing is generally deserted, and have never even seen customs there.

After dark is the best time.

So many smugglers !... I'm as guilty of that as anyone in the past but I would not risk it now for high value items which may be confiscated. Customs have tightened up more recently so I understand, although this is spasmodic as usual. You takes your choice and takes the risk.
