UK driving licence paper and card passport and 380tl go to the driving school in girne - turn right upto police station and driving school on left girl very helpful there and they do it all for you for a small fee

Redwine, I think that's for your first licence, showaddy wants to renew it. You need to get a form from the tax office and ask them what you need, I think they keep your old licence but the receipt you get covers you if you are stopped by the police, until you collect your new licence.

My partner had hers stolen and we went to the police staion reported it got a form and took everything to the nice girl in the driving shool and she sorted everything

you need your current licence, which they keep, and 209tl for a 3 year one. Took my passport but can't recall whether I needed it. The girl behind the counter pointed to some pink forms, I got one and went back to her. I asked her if she understood Turkish and gave her the form. Coupl'a minutes later she put the form on the counter and indicated where I needed to sign. It took about 4 weeks to come through. They said 21 days but....

If you don't want to pay the girl behind the counter who is really helpful!

Try going to the Driving licence office in Nicosia. It is close to the vehicle registration office. Coming from Girne, turn left at the Lefkosa roundabout, pass the Attaturk sports stadium on the left, go straight over the traffic lights. At the next set of lights, turn Right. keep going straight until you come to Kizilbas roundabout, thats the one with the Greek church in the middle. take the second exit, continue on through a very narrow old road but then you have to turn right at the side of the Civil Savunma (Home defence building, there are lots of Cypress trees at the junction and the road has speed humps. Continue on for about 200 metres, take the second left and you can park on the car park, which is at the rear of the vehicle licence centre. The building on the right hand corner next to the car park is the tax office. The driving

licence office is in the same block about 3 to 4 offices away but on the first floor, go up the stairs take the door on your left, you should be there now!

The staff there will help you fill in the form and you should be able to get your licence in just over a week.



But like i said, its only for the adventurous.

So, do you need your passport to "renew" your license or not? Anybody know for sure please as if you have no "Visitor" stamp in your passport then you should not be able to get your license renewed - maybe???

Went to renew ours 2 days ago in Girne The following was needed: - PASSPORT, photocopy of passport back page (but we don't know if they looked at the residency stamp or not - they certainly didn't ask us for a photocopy of it), the old driving licence, 2 passport photographs (they are very, very fussy about those now and they have to be to EU standard and size), completed form and the relevant money. Foreigners can only have to a maximum of 3 years. We were given a receipt and told to go back in ONE MONTH!!! If you don't take photocopy of passport, you are sent upstairs where they do it for you and are charged 1tl.



Its a complete doddle and why people worry about it I just can't think. We actually went in on the day that ours expired so I can't help re obtaining in advance. But it's a pain being told to wait for a month because it now means that we shall have to show our passports when asked for identification.

Went to collect my (renewed) licence this morning - I hate going to the tax office, I always seem to get stuck in a jam of some kind on the road- and now I have to go again, its not in! Gave them a month as requested and all I got was, "not here," when I showed my receipt. Didnt even look for it - "Still Nicosia" - end of conversation. Getting as bad as residency - how can sticking a photo on a piece of plastic and writing some stuff on it take over a month???
