I have just done some research and there are some post offices who offer mail box hire service in the Greek part of Cyprus.

At least you won't have the problem with missing mail.

London...

I think your faith is wonderful to behold but thieving posties are no respectors of final destinations....

If it's in a packet and they fancy it and think they can get away with it, it's as good as gone...

I believe that over four hundred different postal outlets in the UK are under current investigation for mail theft...

The main sorting offices have always been a den of thieves but the problem has spread to main post offices in all the regions...

Just Google 'Royal Mail theft' and see how widespread the problem is..

i will speak to our local shop keeper to see if he is happy for everyone to use my second address in the north and in my village for their post.

as i have one plot but it has two address's,( because the plot is a strange shape)

but as he goes to lefkosa to collect the village mail, i need to run it by him first.

My brother and sister-in-law live on the Greek side and don't always get their mail so don't waste your money, plus the petrol costs it would just not be worth it.

A post box in the North is 25tl per annum but I don't know where in Lefkosa. There are some spare here in Karsiyaka but you must go to Girne post office to reserve one. Can't remember what documents are needed but certainly none to renew each year.

Incidentally, in 4 years I have only had 1 letter go missing. It would be interesting to hear if I am just lucky or whether people with a PO box generally lose less mail

Smithy

When I initially rented mine (4 years ago so this may have changed) I had to supply 2 names for the 2 authorised users of the box. They said that if a name on a letter did not coincide with the authorised names then they would not deliver it. Whenever we let friends use our box they were told to have the letter addressed to me but with their name written on the back so I did not open it, or to put the the letter inside a separate envelope addressed to me.

Maybe this was your problem.
