Front page of Cyprus Today court victory for Don and Shiela Vango against Ismail Beydola who was found guilty of shoddy workmanship and building a structurally unsound villa in Catalkoy. After a 3 year legal battle the couple will receive £175,000. Let's hope Beydola acts honourably and hands over the compensation asap so that these unfortunate couple can put their lives back together and do what they came to TRNC to do: Relax and retire! It's a great shame that Beydola didn't honourable 3 years ago when the problems first arose. Well done to the Vango's for having the guts to fight for what is right and just. These people deserve our support as they have worked tirelessly for the HBPG for many years on behalf of all buyers here despite the incredible apathy that exists from many buyers.

,

PN .Although i'm sure you have listed this person's business interests and suggest people avoid him in good faith , and in order to safeguard members .It does go against board rules , for this reason i am deleting your last paragragh . Simbas

If he does the hounrable thing we will see a formation of flying pigs over Catalkoy, what he will do is drag it on through appeal for as long as poss then do a flit to the mainland, will be interesting to watch future coverage.

Dixie, whilst I agree with what you have said in Message 2, I would disagree that Ismail would "flit" to the mainland. His roots are too deep to consider such a thing. He just should never have gotton involved in the building industry, he was not a builder, just someone who's greed is more important than morals and honour.

Hi Dalartokat, The word on the street is, his back is to the wall, his other interests will be untouchable, shame as the bloke is not as bad as that the majority .As you say greed is the problem and no doubt this case is the tip of a big iceberg that will be another nail in the coffin for the property market. The nature of the beast is to do a runner as facing problems and losing face are 2 probs locals dont handle well.

Hi

I heard reports which were submitted into the Court case were by a surveying company called Picea. Does anone know what has happened to them as I heard they were very honest and fully registered. Thanks.

I believe that the Beydola family own land in Didem in Turkey as Ismail Beydola has, in the past, tried to sell some to friends.

Congratulations to Don and Sheila and here's wishing you a successful, speedy

conclusion.

It is rather odd that meesage 1 was deleted when the information was in the public domain.

lovingcyprus, totally agree. Ismail Beydola is a well known business man and as has already been said, unfortunately for him, maybe more for his "unprofessionalism" than his professionalism, where some of his business is concerned. Its been stated in the link provided by Nigel that he does not want his name in the newspaper. Its a shame that Ismail did not think of this whilst he was acting in an "unprofessional" way.

People should be made aware of unscrupulous characters and families in NC so they can make their own opinions from information given, its the only way people learn.

Beydola doesnt want his name in the papers over this, well thats easy, pay the vangos what you owe them and avoid court and the exposure that comes with it. Beydola was building villas with no building experience. Villas need good solid foundations, you cannot treat it the same as stacking pallets of cheese, and butter as you would in polar foods.

Stevemac ive avoided these businesses for a few years now out of principle. Lets hope Beydola honours the court ruling asap.

I'm afraid I don't understand why part of my message which listed Beydola's business interests has been removed when it is a matter of public record.

Beydola owns Polar Foods, Beydola & Sons developers and Estate Agents, Polar restaurant. The only way to make the dishonest accountable is to boycott their business interests until they act in a reasonable manner.

Maybe it was a mod with itch fingers. ( worried about liable )

I did not see your post but given that it is now a matter of public record and the full contents are available for all to see in the article in the Cyprus Today newspaper on the above link why not repost and see what transpires.

As I said in message 12 surely this forum is supposed to provide members with information not suppress it. Am I correct?????????????

Reading the rules I cannot see how the first post contravened them, it would be interesting to know.

Did Sheila and Don ever get their compensation? Winning is one thing, getting someone to pay is another.

I guess because we haven't heard anything else, they are still waiting as I am sure there would be something in the CY if it had all gone through

What about all the legal costs that Don & Shiela have accrued - has the court added those to the compensation payable?

Ismail Beydola has appealed against the judgement, I understand & therefore the Court case will drag on & on. Baydola said he would do this to draw this out indefinitely.

This is, unfortunately the problem with taking legal action in the TRNC.

In the meantime, I for one have boycotted his businesses as a show of support. Don't buy any Polar Foods products or visit his restaurant.

An appeal does not normally stop the execution of the judgement obtained in the lower court unless the court stays execution in very rare cases.
