The Place - The Village Bistro, Turtle Bay Village, (by Golf Course), Esentepe.

Those attending - Me, 'er in doors, Garry Monger, Garry Monger's Missus, Garry Monger's mate Archie, Archie's Missus...

Comments - A real "diamond in the rough" - positioned within the Turtle Bay complex, with a front line sea view, this really is a great watering hole.....

The nearby Kings bar is knocked for six by this place - much nicer views and much nicer ambiance....

Tucker - I had burger and chips and 'er in doors had a tostie/chips - we couldn't fault the grub and hand cut chips were the icing on the cake.

The high's - watching the sun go down over looking the ocean was truely lovely, if you live in the area, this should be your "local" without a doubt.

The lows - Garry Monger's Missus going back for her 7th burger only to be told they had run out....

Overall - we really enjoyed our visit and will definately return - a Neg Nick 9 / 10 (and i don't give them out very often).

Hope they're doing other stuff beside burgers, as not my favourite food!

Thought they were doing local food as well? Sounds like there won't be

any burgers left anyway after G.M's Missus has been!

To set the record straight the "missus" did not have seven burgers, they were in fact rounded Shish Kebabs befitting an upper class joint such as this "diamond".

Portions were on the small side too.

Shame the rest of the developement didn`t have the same touch of class and appeal and it seemed most people were frequenting that working mens club otherwise known as the Kings bar. Northern Cyprus`s version of the wheeltappers and shunters.

The wife did however enjoy the evening and fitted in quite well with the other similar ample women holidaying there. As long as she enjoys herself -i`m happy.

Will definitely custom this "bistro" again even if it was pricey.

Hi Norma Jean,

Sorry to hear you arrived on Wednesday and the Bisro was closed. But we had put up a notice on the window on the Monday to inform customers that we would be closed on the Wednesday until 6.30 for restocking. Maybe in hindsight we should have put one on the door also, sorry you missed it. Hope to see you at the Bistro soon. Our usual opening hours are 9.30 til 12.00, serving food until around 9.30 pm.

Hi Philray,

Not only burgers on the menu, we have Breakfasts until around 12.00 pm, Toasties, Hot and Cold Sandwiches, Pitta Bread, Jacket Potatoes,

Msg 10, Pipie, we also do various Salads, which include Feta cheese and Olive, Tuna, Cheese, Chicken.

We have now had a BBQ built so we will be able to add more options on the menu in the near future.

Yep and the guy on the microphone that kept cutting out last time me and the missus wobbled past Kings Social Club had a strong hint of Norman Collier about him.

Shame Big Bernard dint make it as he fancied buying an investment on TBV to get a break from Manchester.

Never heard of a Bistro with a BBQ though, they`ll be selling large Doners before you kno it...

A drive thru would`ve been a better idea than a barbequeing bistro for us though but it would have to have extra wide road access for the missuses Transit pick-up

Went to the Bistro last week and placed an order for four. Each meal came separately about 5 minutes apart so we couldn't all eat together and the last two had to go back because they weren't what we wanted.

Taking everything into account, I'm afraid I struggle to give 3 out of 10 !!

Thank you to the customers for your positive comments, glad you enjoyed your visit to The Village Bistro.

But to those customers who were not satisfied with the service/food all we can do is apologise and ask that in future if there is a problem can you bring it to the staffs attention and we will do our best to rectify it. We would rather learn from our mistakes and this will help us provide our customers with a better service.

The Village Bistro is a Bar that provides snacks, which are cooked freshly to order, so sometimes there may be a short waiting time for the food to arrive. We have only been serving food for the last few months and we are trying to cater to all our customers requirements, as the kitchen is limited to what we can prepare and cook. When the Bistro is more estabished we will endeavour to increase the menu selection. Also over the next few weeks we will be able to add Kofte, Chicken & Lamb Shish onto the menu, which will be cooked on the newly built BBQ.

How about doing Doner Kebabs?

The nearest decent one is Alesta in Karakum.

Serhat why dont you invest in the equipment?

Between Catalkoy and Tatlisu nobody does Doners, you have all them holidaymakers on your doorstep wanting snacks plus all the passing trade as well.

The equipment will pay for itself in a week with Mrs Monger as a customer.

Have told my nephew about it as he is over with family in October

and wife is Turkish so she is very interested in the food. (He says he

married the only Turkish girl who can't cook!) Not true, she has learnt!

DON't do pork sandwiches, fatty, and not good in the heat of summer.

(My opinion only)

Hi

Can anyone advise what the Village Bistro does for breakfast and how much they charge? Also, would like to know what time they open and what time they serve breakfast to?

Many thanks

NN - good to hear you have something 'positive' to say for a change & i actually agree with you on this 1.

Although your ratings are pretty daft after giving a 9/10 to a restaurant where you sent a raw burger back not so long ago, i now take these ratings with a pinch of salt!
