I would like to make it clear that the reason I am giving up my moderator and membership status is NOT due to the incident at Jessic's last night as has been suggested. Although I have only been a member since May 2008 I had been following the board and other boards in order to gleam useful information and ask advice pending my move to the TRNC. By doing my homework and having access to the boards I have been one of the lucky one's...so far! and have to say I have no regrets whatsoever in moving to this beautiful side of the island. In part I have to thank members of this board who offered useful, informative and practical advice. As time went on more and more members joined and of course it is human nature that we all have different points of view and in some cases certain members cannot/will not accept that thei views are not shared by all. A couple of months ago I asked Izzet to withdraw my membership as certain members appeared to have their own agenda.

cont..... The abuse and nasty comments were in my opinion too much and did not make pleasent reading. Izzet's response was to become a moderator.......so I had a go. As suggested on a recent post I did go away from the keyboard when I disagreed with a comment etc (had a coffee, played with the dog! etc) and then made a decision on what action to take on a certain post. Of late it appears that the board has become a playing field for having a go at the moderators and their decisions. The moderators do not make the rules we are just asked to enforce them and use a bit of common sense to keep all happy. I for one have had a go and although there are some who may not agree...I did my best under the circumstances. I would suggest that those who do not want to abide by Izzet's rules either find a board where there are no rules or set up their own board....or better still have a go at being a moderator here then you can post how easy it is!

puppylover. you said "As time went on more and more members joined and of course it is human nature that we all have different points of view and in some cases certain members cannot/will not accept that thei views are not shared by all" That sums it up for me. Everyone has their own opinion - the world wouldn't go round if we didn't. People have to accept it. However, it goes further than that. I'm almost convinced that there are members on here using 3/4/5 different names with an agenda to pull the forum down. Sadly it seems to be working I hope you have a rethink on your decision to 'retire' as a moderator. I thought you done a good job.

cont....... Lastly, I wish ALL members all the very best and hope that peace will at some point reign in order that the board gets back to what Izzet set it up for.

Judy I do feel sorry you feel you must do this, I have said many times that the moderators were damned if they do & damned if they don't. Good luck to you. Jean & Paul x

It would be a terrible shame if people were deterred from using this board - I have found it extremely helpful despite the fact that I do not post comments very often. I am sure that there are others in my position who like to read as much as they can about Northern Cyprus and who just ignore the threads which become abusive. Keep up the good work!

Puppy lover, on another thread there are talks of "culling", maybe we need a cleanout and culling os certain members, after all most cannot dare not even fill in Membership questions of Gender, Marital Status, Location etc are maybe these dupicate members?? Seriously will miss your postings after all usually the main reason we all join in the first place is to glean info for either moving over or for help in locating something or another. John

My hubby read my posting and said it sounds like my last will and testament!!! Thank you all so much for your kind words and comments....feeling quite emotional. I am adament that I am going to have the break from Cyprus44 for all the reasons stated above. Plus...1) I spent to much time at the keyboard shaking my head in despair! 2) My 10 month old puppy "Biscuit" is in need of some training. 3) The feral kitten I tamed and adopted cannot understand why I don't give her as many cuddles. 4) My hubby thinks I'm having an affair on cyberspace!!! (only joking!)

Puppylover, by all means take a break, re charge your batteries and relax in the knowledge that you no longer have the responsibility of having to moderate on this board and take the time to do the things you mention, but when you feel ready to contribute again to threads that grab your attention please take to your keyboard again otherwise it's yet another victory for the cyber bullies. Best wishes

It's the rules that's the problem, not the moderators. If they have to adhere to every rule instead of using common sense then they must expect crititism. Just because the mods can modify/delete a post it doesn't mean you have to. (livethedream that was aimed at you) http://www.cyprus44.com/forums/9621.asp http://www.cyprus44.com/forums/9617.asp And Izzet about 18 months ago you emailed me asking if you could advertise this board on the Esentepe msn board,I replied that you could and now you want to stop other boards advertising here.A bit hypocritical isn't it? http://www.cyprus44.com/forums/9569.asp
