I have just popped into the TRNC consulate in London to find out how long we can stay in NC. The consul informed me 3 months/90 days on a UK passport.

However I understand we are only been given 30 days upon arrival in NC.

Could anyone confirm what the score is as we are hoping for six week school holiday stays.

Crossed the border many times last year via Famagusta and Pyla, each time we were given 90 days without even asking.

If they stamp your passport with 30 days then just ask for a longer stamp. they will normally do this for you.

We would like to stay say 4to 6 months in a year .

.Is it like some other countries that at the end of 90 days you need to leave and re enter .

Would a trip and short stay in the south be ok or is it maybe necessary to go to say Turkey .??

Anyone first hand knowledge please .

How do you know if you have a 30/90 day visa. Have looked at my used visa's but can't see no time frame. This is the white loose visas.

Newboy, hi, have just looked at our `white loose visas` and it has 90 written in pen within the red stamp under the date when issued. This was done in Jan. of this year when we crossed over to the South for the day.

Bazpropper,

You say 4 to 6 months a year. Is this all in one go or split throughout into several packages. If its in separate trips then a new visa will be issued on each entry.

If it's for staying all in one go then, yes, you need to do a border run to Turkey on, or before, day 90. An overnight stay in Istanbul for 2 people will be around £200 plus food. So it is better then to get tempoary residence for your time here. Basically it works out cheaper! There are several people/organisations who will help you to get the residency for a small fee.

Thank you for the info Timothy .

Yes we hope to stay in one spell and repeat over next few years .

We have been coming to TRNC for several years now .

We dont want to buy because of the possible hassle it would leave for our family,as and when they come to dispose of the property .

We are looking to rent a property .

Whilst I am on does anyone have knowledge of driving a car to TRNC and returning after say 3 or 6 months .?

Is it a crazy idea ,dangerous ,not possible?.

Any information would be welcome, the car is 3years old next month .

Hi Bazpropper

There shouldn't be a problem driving a car over many people have. I don't think its a crazy idea personally and I'm sure you won't have any problem keeping the car for 6 months. I know of people who have kept their cars on UK plates for a lot longer and never had a problem (not sure if they've ever been asked to produce documentation though).
