Hi All. Will be in Kyrenia in June, I want to go to Istanbul for 4 days whilst I am there. Anyone know a good travel agent. ????? If possible their web address/telphone number. A name of a good hotel in Istanbul(Sultanahmet area) would also be nice. Thanking you all Hannah

i'd google it... You don't need a travel agent..... For flights from ercan to istanbul: Pegasus Atlasjet Cyprus Turkish airlines Turkish airlines. All have their own websites with direct booking. As far as hotels - type "cheap istanbul hotel deals" into Google. Nick

Hello there. I would not do an DIY style holiday in Istanbul, you will be ripped off. I strongly recommend you book with polatkan travel agency in Lefkosa. http://www.polatkan.net/ Have a nice trip. Make sure you ask for menue before ordering drinks in Istanbul. I once got ripped off. I went to Istanbul, an guy approcaches us and says he knows a good bar, the next thing is we are landed with an 6 milyar bill. We escaped but we were lucky. Just be very careful

Hi there, thanks to you all. we did look up doing it ourselves while we are out on holiday but the DIY version is too expensive that is why we are asking for the names of agents. When we go on the internet nwe cannot access any travel agents web sites. If we break our flight from Dublin when we stop in Istanbul Turkish Airlines are charging an extra £250 approx, yet they do not do this from they UK airports. Last year CTA took off the flights from Northern Ireland and Scotland and they wonder why there is a drop in tourism!!!!!! Hannah

I booked with Apple Tours near the Colony, went for 3 nights from Ercan and stayed in Hotel Arcadia in Sultanahmet. We paid around £200 which included flights and hotel B&B. Brilliantly placed hotel within walking distance of loads of tourist attractions and the most wonderful view of The Blue Mosque from their rooftop restaurant/bar. Not the cheapest hotel but have been back again as loved it so much.

Any feedback from this Istanbul holiday? Still haven't been which is crazy considering how much time I have spent in Turkey and here being so close, only one hour by plane! Am researching for a future trip, following above tips looked at hotel Erboy, Arcadia & Stone Hotel online & think am liking Stone Hotel the best: http://www.stonehotelistanbul.com/ any other recommendations re good typical restaurants etc? The best thing about this forum is the useful recommendations! Thanks Nat

Hi NatAless, We have stayed at the Stone Hotel, It was ok for a short stay and is very close to all main attractions. The hotel I would say is about a 3* clean but basic. Our room had a seaview, which we paid extra for but the ensuite bathroom was a bit smelly to say the least. The hotel management said all bathrooms smelt like that. Well they might in Istanbul, I don't know. The butlers wife

mmm thanks the Butler's wife, that is a shame as the hotel looks so nice online, thanks for that, a clean (not smelly!) bathroom is probably the most important thing second to a large comfy bed & lovely Turkish breakfast in my opinion! I liked the old feel of the place, garden, panoramic roof terrace location & Turkish breakfast, oh well may keep looking! Thanks again! Nat

Thanks Lilli, may do but usually do things independantly as it seems more cost effective & a lot of the hotels do a free transfer anyway if you stay with them for three nights or more! Natx
