we have a friend who drives a tourist bus, he has just been laid off due to the lack of tourists.

what were the number of visitors the gov quoted were coming this year? lol.

The Euro is suffering badly and I think we shall see more tourists this year, that coupled with the 'guarantee' should bring a few over from the RoC ...

Let us hope somebody in the new government will see sense and place a moratorium on ALL new building, including the ones with permission to build.



I know I may be corrected on data, but from memory there are around 28,000 available hotel beds in the country with an overall occupancy of less than 30%. There is a plan to build a further 15,000 beds.



I think a 5 year old can work out the maths.

the trouble is if you are cypriot and connected you can still build what ever you want.

our plot we were told by planning that we could build 50% downstairs and 30% upstairs.

a guy in our village has just built on about 95% of his land plot.

just outside the village they have just built a four story building, how can this be??

the lack of control is the problem.

i liked the piece in cyprus today this week, looking for people to help clean up their rubbish because the tourists are complaining.

would it not be better to not throw it around in the first place? lol.
