A complex with a countryside setting amongst lemon trees and a great place to stay for a relaxing holiday. Various standards of accommodation scattered amongst the lemon trees. I was in a superior villa and could pick lemons for a G&T from the balcony. The accommodation was comfortable and very clean with regular bed linen changes and fresh towels daily. Buffet breakfasts and evening meals were more than adequate and there was a choice of main dishes which changed daily and... nothing was rationed! A huge theme pool is tucked to one side and is ideal for families which leaves the Olympic size swimming pool mostly for adults. The small on-site shop is fine for immediate supplies but there are some really excellent supermarkets close by. Besides the daily hotel bus into Kyrenia, cars can be hired from Riverside and it's only a short walk to the local dolmus which plies between Alsancak and Kyrenia. The family and staff were very friendly and did their best to iron out any problems. This may not happen at once but does eventually. As with most Mediterannean countries, if the problem isn't major of course, it's a case of 'going with the flow' and embracing a different culture whole heartedly, including the food which is very good in this case. I stayed at Riverside in May and September 2008.

I can endorse most of Freyas remarks I stayed there twice last year. Top marks as a one stop shop, they will arrange almost anything for you they have their own cars for hire and they also have their own petrol pump on site. I dont score the food quite as high but there are some excellent resteraunts in the close vicinity.

Hi Dodger Its in Alsancak. Head from Girne towards Lapta. Just past the sign for the Merit Crystal Cove Hotel you'll come to a "Golden Lady" statue on the left hand side of the road take the left hand fork then turn left again at the Corner Bar, which is the first turning after the golden lady. Follow the road until you get to the roundabout. Go 3/4 way around the roundabout then follow the road. It takes you direct to the Riverside. Karen

Hi Diamond Girl, I have stayed at both The Riverside and The Ship. The latter on five occaisions. If you have a young family there may be a balance in favour of The Riverside, but for a romantic holiday with your husband, give me The Ship and Dinner on a balmy evening on their terrace. My old friend Zube would make sure that your stay was memorable. Now that was gentle was't it! wynyardman
