We do get strong winds like this frequently. Mediterranean storms. Not usually in May though.

This winter has been relatively wind free.

Well we have had some winds here before but nothing like that since I have been here, my house shook and it was pretty scary...my dogs kennel which is a large one blew up the garden, my furniture is displaced, my plants have been truly battered ...I think in Arapkay we suffered badly as we are high up.

Scruff,

This winter has been relatively wind free.

You are joking, up here we have had winds all winter

I should say my dogs were not in their kennel when it blew over, they slept in the house last night and do every night. They were restless though, I was awake most of the night trying to rescue stuff lol...

Still no power here in Baspinar, and there's more windy stuff to come - have a look at windguru.com and look at the forecast for Kyrenia.

There's quite a good chart for Coptic Winds on the following site - just page down to the chart.

Not sure how our week or more of gusty winds fits into their schedule though!

Check Nigel's site for wind speed (and crazy direction changes!) too

Hi we went of in Alscanzak for about 1 hour. When we got back home from the restaurant and the loungers and the table had blown all over the place. My dogs were also scared.

Here in Lapta, I went into garden at about 11pm & it blew me along!

No more than force 7, near gale on the Ozankoy/Catalkoy border, the patio furniture didn't even move around.

Force 12, hurricane, is very unusual here, but did experience one in Akrotiri in 1972, loads of structural damage, roofs torn offetc.
