I posted something earlier on the thread regarding Ronnie Biggs, but having seen the news about the catalogue of injuries suffered by Baby Peter prior to his tragic death, I cried unashamedly. Not because of the pathetic and abysmal Haringey Care System, who though not directly responsible for his death, should hang their heads in shame for their dereliction of duty whilst he suffered and died on their watch. Their former head, Sharon Shoesmith had the gall to try and claim unfair dismissal. However what upset me more than anything was that on the same news broadcast, two individuals who had defrauded money from the Citizens Advice Bureau received a sentence of six years. Although pretty odious, how does this compare to the crime of his mother who conspired in[and may even have took part in the systematic and carefully hidden] horrific abuse of Baby Peter, and has received an "indeterminate sentence" with a minimum of five years..............to be continued.

Continued.....In my opinion, she ought to have received a minimum of twenty years. The creature who killed him [also responsible of raping a very small child], if I am correct, received a minimum sentence of ten or twelve years. I actually think the rest of his natural life is too short a sentence. Many bad things are done, all of which should be judged, but the enormity of the crimes against this poor little boy have made me very angry. I was very upset about the Bulger case, and although young I think the Court was far too lenient on the perpetrators. However in this case neither of the perpetrators have any potential excuse that they were children or adolescents. Why is money judged above the suffering of innocents [particularly young children]. I may be accused of being too draconian, but I'm afraid this thing has touched a raw nerve. Why should we see time and again horrific abuse without a sentence fully deserved by the crime??

I too felt the same revulsion at this news today, and I thank you for putting it into context so well. This is a nation of double, NO, TRIPLE standards. The ordinary man in the street steals and gets a stiff sentence, the MP's steal and get away with it. Baby killers (which is what they are) receives what? 5 years and will be out in 2 and a half! This is not justice for this little boy. The judiciary should hang their heads in shame too. What price a life eh?

| I read, with disgust today, the miserable sentences these monsters received for their crimes. When the case first came to light, I admit, I, and many other people I know, also cried unashamedly. I read and saw on the news a few months ago that a man was 'stalking' his ex-wife. He did her no physical harm, and, whilst I am not in any way condoning his actions, he received a very stiff jail sentence. Yesterday, in Baby Peter's case, the excuse for a mother, handed the Judge a handwritten letter saying how sorry she was and that she'd have to live with the guilt for the rest of her life. SHAME. It makes my blood boil - I daresay Haringey Council will get off with a slap on the wrist. The thoughts of what that little boy must have gone through haunts me. I only hope that they (those that committed these terrible atrocities) go though hell when they get to prison. But there, I suppose they'll go into solitary. Sorry - but ......................... | Jeannie - the letter was just "crocodile" tears. She was not a mother she was a monster. She pitied herself, she had no remorse, no regret. Don't you worry, there will be no "easy time" for the likes of this scum in prison. I know a few prison guards with families, who turn a blind eye so to speak. The inmates (there for any other offences) in prison also have kids, and find it as despicable as the general public. Not going to be an easy time for any of them. Good. |

Hi All I also thought that the sentencing was appalling, my thoughts have always been you rob a bank and get 30 years you harm a child and after 3/4 years you are free. The Mother (if you can call her that) says it will haunt her for the rest of her life, POOR little mite doesn't have the rest of his life it was cut short by these Monsters, I hope they go through hell in Prison, also been told other prisoners get to them even in Solitary GREAT give them HELL Sheila

Hi all this brought back all the tears I cried for that poor little soul. I hope and i pray that she is put in with hard core women who will seek revenge. I hope the guards give them 30 minutes with her. Haunt her she probably has Max Clifford waiting for her to write a book. She still has a life paid for by the tax payer. She will come out get a new identy and be spared. I think she should be castrated so as not to have another child. Rest inn peace baby P. xxxxx
