As this is only land - no building, would council tax be payable. If so, again, approximinate costs? (from date of purchase - July 2006?

Have I missed anything? Oh yes - we have paid an advocat £1200 - already

Hi,

I was hoping that someone could answer this with more info than myself but to bring it back to the top for you I can only tell you that we had to pay land tax at the belediye on our plot in catalkoy which was purchased 14 months previously, it is 1 donum 100ft2 at they charged us in the region of 145TL.

If you have paid you advocat, what is this for? Initially, £1200 sounds to me like the standard charge for completing all the paperwork for the purchase of the land ie contracts, ptp process etc.

I am hoping that PTP will be abolished very soon. Indeed it has been abolished by a new law but awaiting for regulations to be published before it is put into practice.

Once PTP is abolished, if the kochan of the place you wish to buy is ready, you do not really need a lawyer to assist you. You can always find somebody around the Tapu office to help you fill in the forms just for 100 TL or so and get the job done. All you have to do is to check the details of the kochan to make sure you are buying the correct land. These men who can be found around the Tapu offices are more informed than most lawyers in this respect.

If the kochan is not ready for transfer then you will need the services of a lawyer to draft a proper contract to safeguard your interests against the deposit you are supposed to pay. In such a case, always remember to ask the ackward questions about security and what can happen if the worst happens i.e. if the vendor runs away with your deposit.

Thanks both forthe info.

Elko - I paid in full for the land back when I brought it in July 2006.

Scooby doo - I paid the advocat for: paperwork for PTP + TRANSFER TO OUR NAME. Since receiving PTP, she is now saying that she requires a further 1500 for transfer, taxes and council tax.......

Nobody has answered my other two posts. I guess there are no answers out there.

Land Tax is payable by two 6 monthly installments April/October & depends on the local rate x area of land & if it has buildings on it. It is paid to your local municipality.
