Could anyone tell me whether there is a dentist in Northern Cyprus who is able to carry out dental implants. If there is, do you know their charges for this treatment please?

Dr. Tevhide Oktay Orgun Periodontist in Lefkosa quoted me 1100 Euros per tooth. Needless to say I would be interested in other quotes. I was staggered when she said that and cannot afford that sort of money for implants (well not that kind anyway! lol)

In the UK implants are £2,000 per tooth. My dentist who does not carry out implants suggested I try Hungary.

That's still cheap by British standards though, £1700 per tooth is what my Dentist is charging.

Do you still need a dentist who carry out dental implants? You must visit to Smile-Dent in North Nicosia. Dr Sunalp Aligüllü is a specialist in implantology. I know he is the best, he has recently trained in Germany and got master degree in implantology. His mobile number is 0533 8649009, Good luck

(1000 pound per tooth)

Get on the internet. Hungary is your place. Plenty of them over there. It is a speciality.

Easy Jet to Budapest. They collect and return you to the Airport. Reasonable hotel costs.

Absolutely excellent. 3 years ago £550 per tooth. Pay cash Sterling 5% off.

I had 4 implants put in by a dentist who trained in California, then set up practice in England. £10,000 as the cost about 10 years ago! Sounds like it is getting cheaper, thank God for that!

Good luck. The treatment was quite scarey for for being a total wimp for these sort of things, but well worth it, I am very happy with the results.

Harita, probably the procedure they follow is time consuming, and the materials used in implants are more long term made, so that may be the reason I think.

Funnily enough I went to my UK dentist yesterday & she said I needed either a bridge or implant, the gap will be too small for a denture. I don't like bridges but nearly passed out when she said an implant would cost me upwards of £1800! I had thought of seeing someone in Cyprus but they're not that much cheaper there to make me think it's an absolute necessity, luckily my tooth in question is at the back so should be able to get away with a gap!

I had a gap too and when you have a gap, all your teeth starts moving to that gap and they all move from the places they are meant to be at and it does not look nice. I had to have braces first to have the gap opened again first. I had an implant done afterwards. the bad thing about bridges is that they touch you healthy teeth to place the bridge and you end up with 2 other bad teeths. Whereas implant, is all done in from your gum so it feels more real and healthy teeth are not touched.

Implants themselves are not expensive the cost of the expertise to place them can be also lab costs vary a lot in price depending on level of skill and materials you should note that if gold is used in the finished product that can make the price go up/ also if a progressive boneloading regime is used for patients with poor quality bone or sinus lift et. this can be complex to treatment plan properly so the price will reflect that. always look for expierience ie number of years doing it/ a good place to start looking is the icoi website members list *international congress of oral implantologists

hope this helps kind regards all

I just had an implant done in the UK which I am very happy with -the cost including bone graft and restoration will be £2100.

I did consider Hungary and actually visited an excellent clinic there (Kreativ Dental, Budapest -have an agent in Surrey) while on holiday, but despite being extremely impressed and knowing a friend who had received excellent treatment, still opted to be treated in the UK. Implant cost there was around £850, but you have to consider the repeat trips, flights and accomodation costs, and you would really only start to save money if you had a lot of work done.

Also, the nature of an implant is very invasive, and although the actual implant insertion only takes about 20 minutes, I felt happier that I was within driving distance in case of any problems afterwards. Also, you want to be certain of the qualifications of the person doing the drilling, as if they hit a nerve, you could be left with a dribble apparently !!!

i think you made the right decision essex girl given the fact that if you had a problem i am not sure of your legal position in Hungary/

If the ID nerve is hit you can get facial paralysis this is located in the back half of the lower jaw. Also the sinus should not be punctured in the upper . Any of these type of problems should be unheard of these days with the correct approach. most problems i see are where the implant was not placed ideally from an anatomy standpoint and bio mechanical aspect. i have seen many cases that are compromised in this way.Even to the point that the patient desires cannott be fullfilled.

Just got final quotes for 5 implants in UK. £14600 with no bone grafting required. Now I know what having a giraffe means! To put this into a medical perspective 2 years ago I had a life saving operation with top consultant spending 7 hours in theatre with consultant anaesthetist, 2 days in HDU a further 5 in hospital and it was barely more than the 5 implants.

At those prices! Would you get your money back if not happy with redults?

Look after you teeth - me thinks!
