Friday evening my wife and I paid a first visit to "Guido's" (Lilli's & Guido's restaurant). For me, being a cynic and always biased, this was a very disappointing experience. I could only think of one "serious" complaint! How do Mrs. Lilli and Signor Guido think one person can eat such a huge, delicious sirloin steak?! And the "La Carbonara; Fresh spaghetti with Chicken cubes, Pancetta and fresh cream" - it could have satisfied two Dutchmen instead of one. Excellent food, but too much, Guido, too much... Thank you both for a very enjoyable meal and your outstanding hospitality. Your place, your service and the quality of your food are examples for most of the other restaurants in TRNC. We'll be back soon to make up more "serious" complaints... Thanks again!

Lilli, just read on this board that Richard (Brinsley) had oysters (I heard about lobster already) at "Guido's". Should one order them in advance? If so, how many days?

The truth, Ismet bey, nothing but the truth. I'm sure *you* know that little known Kemal Atatürk saying, which neither made the books nor the bulletin boards until now: "Good food, good mood".

Thanks, Lilli! Any special day for fresh, Dutch raw herring (no, not rollmops!)? Or smoked eel?

I wanted to go to the deli the other day but it was 3.30pm so closed :0( do you sell blocks of parmesan cheese? Also, a member said something about linguini with lobster but it's not on the menu, do you only have it on special days? Last question...sorry! On the 26th of June will it be a set menu?/normal menu?/and how do you normally split the bill? grazie mille! ciao Natx

RE msg 14, Sylvie > when you saw the title of the post < => Many years ago I was taught that a headline shouldn't tell a story - a good headline is a cry and should attract attention. I most humbly think this is still true - it worked here, didn't it?

true DutchCrusader, if you only read the headlines from the Sun newspaper, you would get a completely different story to the article underneath, with their puns etc Lilli that sounds great thanks! See you next Friday! Natx

I can exceed my complaint from Hans; Oysters are sold in half or dozen quantities in restaurants by tradition. I think that the 'ten' on my plate was shortened by the greed of the CHEF!!! However, worth the journey and the company and enduring the loss of the game of chess afterwards! Steak Tartare next time! Richard

Hi Japeal, I agree and that's what I love about long delicious lunches that keep you full until late so you don't have dinner therefore good for the diet too! That's my excuse anyway ;0)
