I search Google News but could not find the articles! ugh! Anyway, as far as I know, the Russian couple were held with the police for a couple of days. But, due to relationships with England, the Greek Government could not really arrest British and put them in prison! I don't think we'll see that ever happen. Nevertheless, it is fact that some British people had experienced problems due to buying a property in North Cyprus...

Thanks for your input, its always worth mentioning that anyone thinking of buying a property in the north should make sure they dont carry any paperwork if they're travelling to the south.

I know! It's such a shame for Greek Cypriot administration and Greek Cypriot people. In which century are we living? What kind of propaganda is this! I work for an estate agent and when I cross to South, I always need to get my business cards out of my wallet. sometimes i forgot and i throw them to the bin near the checkpoint. so far i threw away like 20!

I've had a few friends visit here to look at properties, and some have flown home from the south. Rather than ditch their property info at the border, they simply posted all their brochures home in a large padded envelope!

My best advice is that if you are carrying important property documents, fly home via Turkey, as you won't have any hassle. If you have to fly home via the south, the best way to mail important documents back home is to use either DHL or Fedex. Both firms have offices in North Nicosia. Personally, I would not mail vital documents via the usual post, even in the UK! (Sorry, Royal Mail.)
