Hi Tatty,

Might be a good idea to check the chlorine & pH levels are correct before you put algaecide in.

If not, I'm sure Vaughan or Zerochlor will put you right.

Good luck,

Navek

thetruth...maybe, quite possibly or, get a temporary residency/work permit like normal folk and NOT travel back and forth on a 90 day.

No need to worry for most

Owing to the recent 'Amnesty' issued by the Gov (which had a fine attached), tghere is no more styaing on illegally. You come in on a Tourist Visa for 90 days, and then either leave, or apply for a Temporary Residency or Work Permit - UNLESS, you want to come back on another 'holiday'. But you can't5 just pop over the green line to get another 90 days if you flew into Ercan! Nothing has really changed, other than the gov trying to get some money in by way of fines for those who have overstayed for visa time. What they DID say is that ifr you had at some time a temporary visa, then the only way you can get another one is leave the country, pay the 1190tl fine, and then come back. Work visas out of date, can pay the fine but stay IF they are applying for another Work Visa. Odd way of doing it, but THAT is the current state. O.K

thetruth...msg 1...."this is what i was told,".........BY WHOM ?

A government official?

A border guard?

A bloke in a bar?

Please clarify the validity of this "information".

MarieB...msg 7

I don't fully understand what you are trying to say.

Could you tell me.....is there a minimum time that you have to have left NC before being able to return without penalty?

As far as I understand it nothing has changed apart from the announcement of an amnesty which only concerns those that have not been doing things by the book. With regards to going across to the South to renew your '90 days' visa, I have been warning people for a long time that it is not the legitimate way of doing it and the only way to do it is travel to Turkey (or another country outside of Cyprus). Now if what you are saying is that you cannot now leave the TRNC more than twice to renew your 90 day visa then I would like to know where this information came from.

If they are tightening up, it sounds plausable.

Those that get 90 day visas, instead of temp' resi's - watch out (to be confirmed)

Above all ,shouldnt you all get your work/residency permit?Providing you live here in Cyprus.

I helped a friend/neighbour to get their residency and from what I had seen it wasnt that much of a hard task.

After all, most of you are here for early retirement!(or am I wrong)

X amount of money in bank(think it is £6000 per person per year)+contracts/deeds for your house and job done.

And the government are actualy trying to make it easier for you to get it.They are more flexible now then they ever been.

Why do people want to come into the TRNC on what is a tourist visa and make it their permanent residence? If they move there and dont want to follow the rules then they have became an "illegal immigrant"

The rules are there and in place if you want to flout them or can't be bothered following them then go live somewhere else!!!!

Stubs....I will only ever be a holidaymaker/visitor and the 90 day visa is more than ample for me.

What concerned me was the suggestion that the number of actual visits may be restricted.

Me too. If I visit 4 times a year, one month at a time, then I'm in trouble? That's ridiculous. Mind you, nothing would surprise with NC.

I understand what you are saying. It is at the discretion of the immigration officer on how much they wish to give you either a 30 or 90 day visa.

Although nothing does surprise about the TRNC. It was only a couple of years ago that the government passed legislation that you could only pick up blood relatives from Ercan.

I think this is dubious information. I know several people who ask for 90 day visas, go back to UK and return shortly for another 90 day visa. Sometimes they have to ask for it specifically.

If you're coming here several times a year why not apply for temporary residency as "washerwoman" suggests ? Then no problem. Just don't get hung up about the "variable" bureaucracy here !

If this information is correct it puts me right in the s**t. I have a place in TRNC and a place in UK. Don't want to live in either country full time (although N Cyprus is tempting) I intend to spend 3 months in Cyprus, go home for a couple, then back to Cyprus etc etc. I don't intend to work legally or illegally in either country, but want the flexibility of movement between the two countries. I was let to believe that if you apply for residence in TRNC you can only leave the country for 90 days within a 12 month period. Is this correct?

Hi Suntanman,

I would like to ask the same question, as this is what I intend to do for the next 2 years.
