Have come across the British Residents website and what they have to join for Medical Cover.

Are there any alternatives in NC? Any advice welcome which helps me decide on the best cover to take.

Some factors & thoughts:-

1] Are you or are you going to be resident in North Cyprus full time

2] If not and you have EU residency you might be able to have long term travel insurance

3] Do you already have health, BPI, BUPA, HSA or similar you might be able to use them

4] Hopefully you are in fine health and don't envisage using any insurance if so have you worked out the cost benefit of paying for 3/4 years insurance against surgery + doctors visits

5] If you have UK residency still have a home in the UK, pay taxes, NI and have a doctor etc could you use their services if you visit the UK on a frequent basis?

With regard to 2] we might be able to assist.

Thank you.

I am currently fit and fine. Have home in UK and a Doctor.

Plan to stay in NC but return once every 2-3 months for a week or two.

From reading many entries i get the impression that many people pay-as-you-need a service in NC. Would travel insurance pay for the odd dental and medical emergency?

Travel insurance - It depends on what package you take we have two specialist tarvel insurers on our web site with different packages, T's & C's and restrictions.

They can be found under the last tab on the right of the index bar. on http://www.flightholiday.co.uk home page - if you do or do not buy between them they give a good indication of what you should want from any policy.

There are many insurers but you must be aware that some are very basic and some are not. Often they buy different products from different sources so a good car insurer might be a bad one for your home etc. - also often banks, airlines, and tour operators among others offer travel insurance and you need to see the details just as much as with any other contract.

Some insurers are better with pre-existing conditions than others.

You are very badly advised to travel without insurance.
